Topic: African Scams!! | |
---|---|
I recently posted a profile on a dating site and met over 100 ladies. I
started to see a pattern in some that I just have to tell people about. Their profiles might say they are from the U.S. or any place, but after e-mailing a few times, they would mention that they are stuck in Africa. Some even say they were robbed and cannot come home. Then the big question is dropped into your lap. "Can you send me money?". Be careful as I've found there are no fraudulant laws in Africa and these are people who have a business in scamming people. Any experiences like this? |

I have talked to a girl in west africa. She said that she was stranded.
I didn't go into elaborate detail with her about her situation, but I'm not talking to her anymore anyway. |

I had some guy do something like that to me...but what happened was he
had told me he was there on a business trip. They wouldn't cash his checks and asked me to wire him money and then he would send me a check to make up for it---I am like "UMMM hello, I am not that stupid." I really knew that it was a fake when he sent me another letter saying I think about you all the time Amanda...my name is Pamela...so I blocked his arse real fast..haha! I guess this is where I say...OK GUYS KEEP YOUR WOMENS NAME STRAIGHT!! |

The thing is, these people are most likely not even in Africa or, if
they are, I believe they are sitting somewhere with a bunch of other scam-o-marketers. This is a widespread thing; there are HUNDREDS of them doing this, if not thousands. And many of them play different roles/genders/scenarios. They are SOOOOO easy tospot and so predictable. I've gotten to where now, when one of them IMs me, I just say, "Cut the crap and just tell me where to send the check." LOL. Of course, what I get back is this feigned innocent, "What do you mean?" which makes it even funnier. Play along with their crap for a little while, then let 'em have it. No sense in letting them have all the fun. |

I chatted with a guy who was suppose to live in a different state for a
couple of months. During this time, without me really knowing, he asked just the right questions to get my credit report. (If they're really good, they can access this with just your name and address) I NEVER GAVE HIM MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER! After he got my credit report, he hacked into my account at Wells Fargo, transferred $8500 to himself in Nigeria. This all happened over the course of just 1 week. This had happened to a few others at Wells Fargo at the same time. The FBI will wrap their investigation next month. |

There are many such scams, from all over the world. I have tried to
understand why and how these poeple can be so forthright. I think we forget how much we, Americans & Canadians have. We grow up and live a life, many of us never getting to really "experience" what life in other countries is like. Some believe we are all wealthy, dripping in money, or at the very least that we have some ability to come by money anytime we want or need it. To those poeple we are just pawns. They think we are so mindlessly "high" on our own creature comforts that we will be happy to comply to their manipulation. BUT, I also think that for some it's out of desperation. A true desire to leave the hell they are in and go to a place that would afford them the freedoms to at least "try" to have a life in which they can afford to meet their own humble necessities. Either way, it's sad, and either way, we can do nothing but ignore them. |

Yeap had it happen also and when I told them I knew they were a scam he
said he was going to kill me. What I think it funny, is people who are asking for money as they are in dire need they have the ability to get onlin. HUMMMM lmao |
