I don't fit into the stereotype of collecting shoes. The most I have ever had in my life, at one time, is maybe 10 pairs. I hate shoe shopping.

Same here!
If I got one pair of comfy shoes and/or one pair of really great boots, I'm happy and I completely wear them down.
The other day I had to chuck my 10 year old boots (!!!!) and I still miss them. But they were seriously beyond repair.

For me it's mostly to do with being able to get nice shoes in my size and then being able to fit my inlays in them.
I can't in most shoes/boots, summer shoes and sandals are a disaster if you need inlays (due to hyperlaxity), so shoe shopping and collecting is not a hobby of mine at all.

I had a problem years ago, in my 20's when I raised a couple of baby raccoons, then let them go into the wild. I bought a couple of little statues to remember them. When anyone saw those, they thought I was collecting raccoon figurines. I wasn't, but too many people just wanted to give me things that had to do with them. It got a little out of control and I'm still trying to get rid of them.

I collect "Wanted" posters.
Whenever I see one of me, I take it so that nobody else can see it and . . .

Wait. Did I just say that out loud?

Uh ... uh ...

My step-mother had the same problem, but with elephants.. Elephants are supposed to be 'good luck'..she had a couple, then she'd get one for xmas, one for mothers day... before long, she had quite a group of them because people figures she was collecting them.. she finally told everyone... no more elephants!

I seem to collect books...have way too many of them..

or ..maybe shoes

oh my gawd I collect books and shoes surprised

I know I will regret this but I thought all women had closets full of shoes? Flats, sandals, heels, boots, tennis, and I am sure I am missing a type or two, as they are specific to specific outfits?

For me, its true I have quite a few shoes for different occasions in different colours.. I have learned though, that when I bring in a new pair, now I look around and donate a pair to the thrift store.. and sometimes I donate a couple pairs..

I'm on eBay right now waiting right to the last moment to place a bid on a toy truck that I want. I've been collecting toy trucks that are hard to find, and 1/18 scale "movie" cars that are also hard to find for several years now. I buy and sell too.

I used to collect scented stationeries from primary school till college and my younger sister sold them to her classmates without my knowing and when I found out I was so mad I asked her to give it all back to me she gave back the money to them and got back my stationeries

I also collected letters, gifts and it's gift wraps from friends which I put their names and the dates given, poems. When I have nothing to do , I open my drawer and unearthed and reach each remembering people bringing a smile on my face:smile:

And had also collected different bottles of wine and mugs , and painted or designed it using the glitters glue:tongue: Angel scented candle and figurines also had been my collection....... my sister hated those many stuffs I displayed on the dividerlaugh

I do have a bunch of books, not nearly as much as I want. I would have an entire house filled with books if I had the room. Books are way more important than shoes.

I used to collect scifi & fantasy books. Even joined a few book clubs. After a few years online and using eBooks and audio books I sold my collection and started collecting e-versions.
If I had the dead wood versions of all the books in my library files I would need a room stacked floor to ceiling packed with books and audio tapes.

People have asked me if I miss the feel and smell of a dead wood book.
Not Really. My eyes are starting to go and on my PC I can enlarge the print to my satisfaction easily. Not only that, I can set the high-light at any speed I desire. If I am going away, I can drag my book onto my tablet or phone and take it with me. I can also instantly search for media and information on any subject in any book I am reading.

Since my 40" TV is my monitor, I can enlarge the text and set the scroll and curl up on the sofa or my recliner and read at my leisure. What is cool is I don't have to turn pages and I never lose my place.
The best part is...They are all free! There are tens of hundreds of free book sites all over the internet if you know where to look.
Gutenberg Free Library
http://www.gutenberg.org/
Free e-books dot net
http://www.free-ebooks.net/
Wikibooks
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Main_Page
to name a few...

Most of your publishers also have free editions of eBooks available from time to time.
http://www.baenebooks.com/c-1-free-library.aspx

http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/44488-tor-books-gives-away-free-novels

Plus there are sites that give you historical documents and books as well
http://www.sacred-texts.com/

Audio books are good and just as free.
No longer are they limited to a reader program. Most are voiced by professional readers and some even have background sound effects and multiple readers by voice actors.
Many well-known books are available on YouTube

I could say crystals, although that's not really collecting for the sake of collecting. Has to do with energywork and healing etc.

Like Cat, I wouldn't want a man who is a serious collector of stuff. Eats up too much space, gets dusty etc. I don't want my home filled with motor bike models, or trucks or whatever.

i have a few crystals

and about 20 diferent type
of tarot cards.... lol

i only use one the rider deck
