I don't completely agree... although I admit I don't get why shortcake women want a tall man. I want a tall man cos I'm 5 foot 10 myself.
But doesn't mean to say that every tall man is automatically desirable.
I know and see plenty of not so tall men that are very appealing and alpha male types.
Attraction factor is not just height, it's how you carry yourself.

Yeah, deuh ... but there are a lot of really short women, so a not so tall guy would still be taller.

Question is: why do short women want a man who's half a meter taller? And why would tall men want a woman that's half a meter shorter?

Yes, and as there are plenty of really short women around, an average height man shouldn't have a problem. According to your theory.
But it clearly doesn't work that way. If ppl were okay with someone some 2-4 inches taller or shorter, hardly anyone would have a problem. And everyone could find a taller man or a shorter woman.

Folks, pardon me for pointing out the obvious, but the OP is tall for a woman. Granted, she isn't tall enough for the WNBA, but she still has a valid reason for looking for a man who is at least as tall as she is.

You never know, you could end up being attracted to a small guy. Life can be unpredictable like that. Just a thought :)

Tall and sweet doesn't mean taken or hidden. You just are not looking in the right places. I am 6 ft 3 in and have been told many times how sweet I am. Unfortunately it never turns into anything because women tend to want that in a guy that isn't boring. Sweet, nice, good guys tend to be seen as boring and therefore are left in the "friend zone". I read a couple studies that mentioned this but I cannot find them. I go camping, fishing, offroading, bowling, sporting events, kid around, plus whatever else sounds fun yet no takers. So really you have to think about where you are looking, what you are looking for in a male, and who you are around rather than wondering where that specific kind of guy is.

It is a rare commodity so therefore when they do come on the market they snagged and we hide in out closets so they never see the light of day again...

Because they're so popular. There's plenty of short sweet men left over.
