War has got to be a LAST resort. Unfortunately ... sometimes peace can only be found on the other side of war. Protect the weak and vulnerable. I personally would have no problem arranging the meeting between a person and their maker for pointing a gun at me.
On Christianity.... what about the 10,000 angels to aid in Jericho. The bible also says "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth". I don't agree at all how the Iraq war was handled. I think we jumped in too quickly.... but imagine what the world would be if we did not stop the Nazi's? I am still Pissed beyond recognition about Pearl Harbor. (not a wise move) I think if someone does something like that.... they open up a can on themselves. Also... To lighten the mood... Did you ever wonder why in the hell Kamikaze pilots wore helmets??? War is bad, but unfortunately there is a line in the sand that can't be crossed.
Also.... I was quite confused when all of a sudden the focus on pasting Bin Ladens sorry rear end was lost and we jumped in to Iraq. Also.... We should have just sent bounty hunters after Saddam. (You put a $100 million bounty on his head.... we would still have our men and his own people would have been singing like canaries!) The money on his trial would not have been wasted. Bullets are cheaper. Anyway! I love our boys over there and they are doing their duty to our country.
Even if we all don't agree on the war, we should love them, our country, and pray for them.

Anyway! God bless you all and take good care!

Angela

Hangedman - I had to laugh at your comments. Full knowing that he will be coming to people who think just like you, how you imagine that this man is not brave.noway

At first I wondered, who paid for his education at WestPoint, and how long was he employeed by the governent? But then I thought, well, dang it all, the guy got an education, and he ain't out there adding to the death toll.

I wish more military personal would just say "I can't do this, so are you going to do about it?"

I actually believe this guy has no idea the adversity he could be facing coming back to this country in this manner. I hope he has a lot of supporting friends and family.

On my dad's ship in ww2 the engines from the Kamikaze planes were melted down by the machinist and made into ashtrays for the sailors. If the helmets went into the mix they may have been useful after all.

It is admirable to say "love your neighbor" and to follow that doctrine religiously. When people make such a choice I think you have to honor their choice.

You don't have to follow their example though, keeping in mind that adversaries are unlikely to follow the example and somebody has to look out for your security and health.

Some of us will always stand up for those we love, and that doesn't necessarily mean everyone on earth. This form of selflessness is a strong component of character which helps to assure our continued freedom in the face of those who would take it away.

Im not judging but only stating the truth here. I look back at 95% of the wars faught from Rome to the War i fight in today I always hear the motto "In Gods name i fight". Now I know i also remember the fact of Money and in the industrial age the oil.

The Golden Rule- He who has the Gold makes the rules.

Reasons War is faught
1 Money
2 Religion
3 Oil
4 Revenge
5 Land
6 Freedom
7 Democracy
and the lists go on and on and on

We may not all agree with the reason, but we stand behind the People fighting it.

Since this isn't in the religion section, I'll leave that out.

I'm not sure what happened to the medic positions, he should have the option if it's really a matter of conscience... My grand uncle signed on as a chaplain but at the last minute, they said they needed foot soldiers more... which is a chronic condition... so contracts with the military don't hold much weight until they want something.

Whether they're fighting for money or conscience, it's about watching each other's back and getting the job done... if one doesn't have the fight in him, he shouldn't be out there.

Stay strong, guys.drinker
