NASA Makes Major Mars Discovery (VIDEO)
September 26, 2015 NASA has made a major Mars discovery. The major science finding will be announced in a special news conference on Monday by the space agency. From IFLScience: The event will take place at 11:30 a.m. EDT (4.30 p.m. BST) on Monday, and you will be able to watch it live on NASA TV, which we have handily embedded below. Reporters will be onsite and asking questions by phone, while the public can get involved via #AskNASA. I think when NASA makes an announcement like this, we should all listen. The last major announcement they made, in June, was the discovery of Kepler-452b, the most Earth-like planet found outside the Solar System to date. What will the announcement be about? Well, you'll have to wait and see, as NASA won't be releasing any more information to the public until then. |

i see no link you will be able to watch it live on NASA TV, which we have handily embedded below. or a link to where you got it from thanks for the info though : ) sure i will hear more about it here and on facebook etc etc etc It should be interesting. http://www.iflscience.com/space/nasa-announce-major-discovery-regarding-mars-monday Taking part in the news conference will be Jim Green, director of planetary science at NASA Headquarters; Michael Meyer, lead scientist for the Mars Exploration Program at NASA Headquarters; graduate student Lujendra Ojha of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta; Mary Beth Wilhelm of NASA’s Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California and the Georgia Institute of Technology; and Alfred McEwen, principal investigator for the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Such events for NASA are not unprecedented, but they do usually herald a major discovery. In July, NASA convened a similar conference to announce the discovery of Kepler-452b, the most Earth-like planet found outside the Solar System to date. While this latest event won’t be announcing life on Mars, its implications could be vital in understanding more about the Red Planet. So tune in on Monday for a groundbreaking discovery about a world that we think was once rather similar to our own. |

Water reserve in Tarsis? Could be water trapped in CO2 ice. something denser than bi-carbonated water? i think they are going to say the methane is from a biologic degradation process |

A YouTube UFO hunter who calls himself Mr. Enigma, claims to have spotted a rock formation on Mars that allegedly "looks eerily similar" to one of the world's most famous and mysterious landmarks, the ancient English monument, Stonehenge. "Now, I know the formation isn't an exact match [for Stonehenge]" Mr. Enigma notes in the video. "Nor am I saying this is indeed a Stonehenge set-up. I'm just saying there is something strange about this area, and it looks very much like the mysterious ancient stones of Stonehenge." The UFO hunter adds: "Could the builders of Stonehenge have visited Mars and did they build the same thing there? Or did we have visitors teach us how to build these things and do the same for long-lost beings on Mars as well?" According to archaeologists, Stonehenge, the ancient ruin which consists of roughly 100 large upright stones placed in a circular layout, was built in several stages, with the earliest constructed at least 5,000 years ago. The monument located in southern England was once a burial ground. It took an estimated 1,500 years to erect Stonehenge. Up to one million people visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site every year. The UFO hunter's discovery has not been left unnoticed by the popular blog UFO Sightings Daily. "This is something remarkable found by Mister Enigma of YouTube," Scott C. Waring acknowledged. "Its two circles of rocks and one square in its center." In May scientists from Rosetta's OSIRIS team discovered an unusual formation of boulders in the Aker region on the large lobe of Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. They said it was reminiscent of Stonehenge-style rocks on Earth. The NASA Curiosity Mars rover also previously spotted what NASA dubbed as a "Stonehenge" on Mars, a "small cluster of rocks that resembles famous rock structure in England." |

CNN also thinks it's water, some 10 minutes ago. 11am US time (8:30pm over here in India).
and if it's water; with surface temperatures (equator) from -70C at night to 20C day, it would still be frozen ice!! To MM: Stonehenge on Mars(!): are you now saying it's some sort of a 'marker' left behind by aliens? or is this another Harry Porter? I ask since in an earlier post you were of the opinion that Mars exploration would serve no useful purpose but to dump all the nuclear waste from our power plants, right? |

Ladies, gentlemen & lovers, NASA has confirmed "strong evidence" of water on Mars. for additional corroborative images please visit: https://www.nasa.gov/image-feature/jpl/pia19918/recurring-lineae-on-slopes-at-horowitz-crater The dark, narrow streaks flowing downhill on Mars at sites such as this .. These dark features on the slopes are called "recurring slope lineae" or RSL. .. the same orbiter detected hydrated salts on these slopes at Horowitz Crater, corroborating the hypothesis that the streaks are formed by briny liquid water. hydrated salts? NASA is confident that it's equivalent to the first seagull that landed on Columbus ship. ''--- Congratulations to MM & MW, for initiating, leading, exciting & absorbing so many of us on matters concerning Space. Alleoops for the alert.. "Houston, where is the party?" |

"Houston, where is the party?"
Well, since they found this.... hydrated salts
...theyre looking for the tequila and lime....then, PARRRRR-TAYYYYY! |

I heard it was flowing water they found. yea, they knew about it for years, they just wanted to announce it now, for matt damons sake... they have had pictures of canyons changing shape, gullys and washouts for about 10 years now... and not to mention the ice all over the place |

When will there be an actual manned mission to mars?
|
|
|
|
Ok this might sound a lil crazy but i have mentioned before that creatures will reign havoc on earth & they will be from another planet....not really in space ships or hollywood style....but my curiousity is if ithose same creatures be from Mars?
With NASA doing so much could they in the future do something that might unleash aliens from mars on earth? |
