Well hello Winnie, please feel free to drop in and say hello. It is kind of nice when one happens to bump into someone in the chat room. Sometimes I like to just have fun and chat - pass the coffee around, that kind of stuff.

If you have inspirational verses, poems, stories you would like to share please do.

I enjoy the questions posed by Feralcat sometimes. They get me thinking.

Hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving. flowerforyou

I believe this is the speech by George Washington when he announced Thanksgiving as a National Holiday...

Here's what he proclaimed Oct. 3, 1789:

Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly implore His protection and favor; and whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me to recommend to the people of the United States a day of Public Thanksgiving and Prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the twenty-six of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that Great and Glorious Being, who is the Beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country, previous to their becoming a nation; for the single manifold mercies, and the favorable interposition's of His providence, in the courage and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish Constitutions of Government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now instituted; for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

And also, that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the Great Lord and Ruler of Nations, and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private institutions, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discretely and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness to us) and to bless them with good governments, peace and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science, among them and us; and generally, to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.

Hello to all,

I just joined the site a little while ago, and I've been looking around, trying to see where I might fit.

I've read several pages of the Coffee House posts, and I think this looks like the very best place to begin. If you'll have me, of course!

I've enjoyed much of what I've read here.

Thought for the Day:

If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.
If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it.
He sends you flowers every spring.
He sends you a sunrise every morning Face it, friend - He is crazy about you!

God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain,
but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.

If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

Thanks for that!! I smelled the coffee and popped in.

Well, He brought me to something about my career , and I acted on it due to some insulting and incompetent alliances that have been troubling me to the point of acting,by faith, to remedy knowing full well the jeopardy my choice can leave me in.

But I ,too, believe that what He offers comes with provisions to accomplish, and not seeing what He does see does not mean that it is not so. How comforting to happen upon your encouraging and timely thoughts!!!

Welcome countryangel.....and we are most happy to have you aboard. Enjoy and anything you would like to post feel free.

Nice to see you here also wouldee, I was wondering when you would wonder in here....glad to have you aboard.

I'm sorry I haven't been around more but I have been busy.

I am now the assistant to Tom Sizemore a very well known actor. I have been praying and praying for him as he is in jail for about 16 more days. I would love very much if each and everyone that reads this could please pray for him. Pray that he gives his life to God, pray that no more drugs, and that he will want to just live a happy life and get high only on God and his son Jesus Christ. I have been praying like a crazy women that while he has been in jail that the Lord speak to his heart and get a bible in his hands. October 27th that prayer was answered. He is doing very well and spirits are great so pray pray pray for him people.

Love you all

Debbie

aaaahhhhhhhhhh, so nice to be in here without the persecution. just basking in our Lord's love. thank you for this thread and britty, thank you for your thought of the day. i recently told a friend who is going through a tough time that God will not put her through anything that she cannot handle. something she told me when i was going through tough times.

i would ask that you all say a prayer for my son. he is sick....severe asthma. he has had it since he was a baby but i dont think i will ever get used to it. today was very hard at the doctor's when he put my son on oxygen.

thanks again and God bless!

Ah Winnie, it must have been a really trying day for you. I will certainly keep your son in prayer.

I had asthma as a child - but not quite that severe. I know the doctors say that there is always the chance a child will outgrow it - as the body goes through changes every 7 years. We serve a loving God and I truly believe He hears the fervent prayers of a mother.

God bless you both...

please let us know how he is doing and if you wish you are welcome to email any time.

Take care, your little angel needs his mom.

Dear Lord, reveal to me the roles that I tend to control because of my own perfectionist tendencies or other's expectations. Teach me to release some of the control I hold in our family's holiday traditions. Teach me to share the work, the time, and the joy. Help us as a family to work together and enjoy each other's company. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Britty,

That's a wonderful prayer! I have some of the same tendencies, but I had never actually thought to pray about them as you just did!
I hope you have a very happy Thanksgiving!

Well, whenever you feel the urge just post away.

Glad you enjoyed that prayer.

The following is a thought for someone that may need it....

God sometimes permits Satan to assail His dear children, the more to strengthen them in His spiritual graces, and to confirm them more fully in the assurance of His love and their salvation.

For as a city which has been once besieged and not sacked will ever after be more strong to hold out if it be assaulted by the like danger.... so those who are besieged and assaulted by their spiritual enemies will ever after more carefully arm themselves against them with the graces of God's Spirit, that they may not be overcome nor foiled by them.
