Hey everyone!

I'm currently going to OSU in Stillwater, OK. I've been single forever, and when I just turned 18 I got my first kiss, which led to some horrible effects...

I've been going out of my way to find a nice, descent girl. That's it. Is that too much to ask for? I mean, I'm a normal guy, I like going to the movies and hanging out with friends, I'm pretty funny (well, I hope...) like everyone else.

What is the problem? I just can't figure it out. EVERYONE around me has girlfriends, and they treat them like crap here. I guess girls like guys who treat them like crap. I don't get it.

Every girl I've tried to ask on a date says one of three things:

1) I have a boyfriend. (sometimes true)
2) I just had a boyfriend, and I don't want one right now...
3) I think we should just be friends.

Then, I feel weird around them for a while, like they think I'm some creepy guy. I don't know. I would never cheat, never treat you bad, always try to cheer you up, do spontaneous fun stuff...

What the heck?!?

Have any girls had this problem?

That is among the many mysteries of life. I think each person is looking for their own thing. It is true, lots of girls like guys who will just constantly give them a hard time, like teasing them about all kinds of things. I'm the "nice guy" too so I haven't ever had that much luck with women. Funny how that works.

I have sons who are your age...whats wrong with being friends with soemone you like...you could have a lot of laughs...thats good right? and dont forget your friend will have other friends...and perhaps one of her friends will see your a fun guy and maybe, just maybe will want to know more about you.

Just take your time...there is no rush...it will happenflowerforyou

I went through the same thing my teenaged years and jumped into something as a result.
WAIT IT OUT.... good things will come your way... and NEVER EVER Compromise who you are for the sake of love - NOT worth it.

Good Luck to You! flowerforyou

Well, I have a lot of friends who are girls, I just feel bad when they talk about the guys they date and how much they like them. I think I've waited too long! ;)

Perhaps patience is a virtue.

Hey... take it from someone who married the wrong guy at 19, had a kid at 20 and threw away many opportunities she could have had. Don't get me wrong... I love my kids... and things turned out ok... but I think knowing what I know now, I'd have waited it out to be sure rather than settling on the first person who accepted me.

That's some very good advice. :D I think I'll wait a bit because I wouldn't want that to happen. I'm sure maybe someday someone will think the same about me as I do them! :)

Of course they will.
There is someone for everyone. Concentrate on college. Develop your current friendships and make them lasting... and don't be down about not having a girlfriend. You're probably saying "Yeah, lady...easy for you to say".... but really and truly... TEENAGED GIRLS RARELY know exactly what they want. So to obsess over it is kinda not good. The great things happen when you aren't looking... and in the meantime, focus on solidifying your future, so that when you do find her, you have the best of everything to offer.

Hey neighbor, T-town here.

An odd idea for you, to find a girl, look at a group of guys.

A lot of times you'll find a girl who's been hanging out with guys so long they've forgotten she's female. They're usually wallflowers who share your interests and would LOVE to be noticed.

Just a thought...

Blainiac:

I've posted about this in other forums, so here goes(and I know I'll get attacked for this):

Women, by and large, don't want a "good guy". Women have the mentality of either "He's too good to be true, so there's something he's hiding", or they wany a "bad guy" simply because the women think they know what they're getting with him. A lot of women where I live would kill to be with a man that's totally controlling, because they feel that they don't have to worry about making any decisions.

It's sad, really, that most women claim to desire so much, yet are perfectly willing to settle for so little.

It's the level of maturity in these individuals. These "girls" or young women haven't learned the valuable lesson of self respect and therefore, will put up with someone who doesn't treat them with the respect and dignity they deserve. They think bad attention is better than no attention. When they grow up, they will have learned that lesson.

That's not the type of woman for you so don't pine for those that are involved with "bad boys". Hang in there and when you're ready the right person for you will appear. Civic organizations, clubs or volunteer work is a great place to meet someone with a common interest, that will give you a foundation for a friendship and maybe a relationship will develop from there. Good luck!
