yes people are overly sensitive and we (Americans) as a society promote that. and have for awhile now... (my son's sensitive be gentle, we cant keep score he'll be sad ifnhe loses) then later in life he can't keep a girl (she says he won't man up, he crys over everything its unattractive)....so many conflicting messages like all of society.

So yes we're over sensitive, but we've beenconditioned to be that way.

However at the same time technology is allowing us to express our own views on everything, and unfortunately the views that get the biggest emotional response are applauded and shared, and re-shared many of these intentionally antagonistic, because there is a chance that it could make them famous. ..so now we're teaching people if your rufe enough, yoy may get a big payout. ..essentially their capitalizing on our our sensitivity

As with everything, we are not talking about the extremes but the happy medium. Rudeness begets rudeness in my book, just like niceness begets niceness.

I attribute a fair amount of the popularity of rudeness these days, to a couple of things.

One, is that we've had a LONG period of one side or the other politically, taking pride in being bombastically crude about the other side. The Left used to do it to the Right, and the Right admired that crudity so much, they decided to emulate it. So now EVERYONE is rude to EVERYONE.

The other, is that there are far more second- and third-rate people now, who have access to the ability to say things very loudly. It's the second rate people who genuinely think that insults are a form of debate or discussion. Remember back when we were little kids, and the bullies could win by shouting curse words, and threatening violence? Same thing.

Biggest disappointment of my youth, was discovering that even the most self-righteous and seemingly conservative and upright people of the world, would utterly refuse to step forward when crude behavior was exhibited that was ostensibly on their side.

When no one stands up for civility, it sure wont flourish.

I don't think rudeness is a problem where women as newscasters are concerned.
Adds to the general color; with their little bit of nudiness who would notice.

I think there's another side to this like getting to know what makes people tick, and so on; but as this debate is un-winnable; letting it go.

The world worships Money,it's our God.
I deal with about 250,000 people a year.

250,000 people!!
i get exhausted dealing with 2 pwople a day.

In the US, and maybe many other areas as well, is the powerful force of "political correctness" that takes a falsehood and instantly transforms it into a false truth... simply because someone says so. This problem is transforming politics in America and throughout the world. Social media is spreading this trend like wildfire.

Yep, a warning growl is preferred to 'edit'

It seems to me that people are generally more rude than they used to be since age and rank seems to have little respect now days. And few people seem to have much self respect and take almost everything as and insult weather it is or not. The victim mentality wears thin after a while.

What particularly bothers me is we seem to be teaching children and young people that they have no accountability for what they do and almost anything will be ignored, over looked, excused , or forgiven with the right excuse. Which backfires when these people get out in the world and can not survive.

I do find it amusing when people say they want honest input, feed back, and or help and then when they get it and it doesn't come out as and endorsement they are boohooing how rude someone is to them.

The whole I am going to get them before they get me stance or I refuse to be perceived as weak by ignoring someone else's obnoxious behavior assumes that going off on someone will teach them a lesson; when in reality it often just engrains their behavior. And you have given over your power to "rise above" if only to be insulted by it as a personal punishment when sometimes it is just ignorance.

I have said it many times over the years here on Mingle "There is no punishment Like silence for a fool." Because it is really true. They can't goad you if you are deaf to them and most of the time it is just and attention ploy so why reward them? Internal exile is very effective in modifying behavior.

Both.

People are more rude, AND a lot of people are overly sensitive.

Some are just oblivious to everyone, and everything around them.
