included in the shame of lives lost

Just curious, Would you have any concern about the social life of the men involved had it been your father who was murdered while doing his job?

Condolences to the Bolton family,
and the Memphis police department.

With any sense of justice, may the shooter get the finest treatment afforded by the Memphis city jail.

this is one reason why cops get shot...just sayin...

I do not agree! This only shows part of what happened. We are not seeing what happened before the officer lost his cool. Yes, I agree he lost his professionalism, but he IS human and has not-good moments like the rest of us. I simply don't agree that THIS should be a reason for someone getting shot.

your right, they are people too, but when they start treating the people they are protecting as animals, then they should find a new job... bad day or not, they are not above the communities they protect...

and my heart weeps that their social life has been affected.

But I'm sure Mamma's monthly visits will bring a well deserved smile to these misguided young men's faces.

how to deal with police the right way... this guy has my respect

http://www.youtube.com/watch?t=117&v=EUhRCsVSzYs

In the first video which was captured via personal dash cam, the officer claims that he pulled Soto over for a couple of reasons. The first reason being his tinted windows- which Soto quickly invalidates by showing him his tint permit. The officer next claims that the man's headlight is out, which Soto asserts it was not and he's right.

Upon receiving the information proving Soto broke no laws, the officer attempts to illegally open the marshall's door.

Soto requests a supervisor as the officer is attempting to violate his constitutional rights, and pulls out his identification as well as his fire fighter badge. He then hands the information over along with his tint permit.

"We're going to stop all this nonsense with you guys down here - just stopping people and doing whatever you want so that's done, those days are over," Soto calmly tells the officer.

"I'm glad you think you're changing the world," the officer replies.

"No sir actually, let me explain something to you, I'm not changing the world okay, I'm professional, and we're going to change it one person at a time," Soto continues on to say.

After once again reading the tint permit, the officer returns to ask Soto if he has any firearms in the vehicle. Soto informs the officer that he does not, and explains to the camera that he does not have one and that he obviously does not consent to a search.

The officer walks away, gets in his vehicle and pulls across the street, after Soto had requested a supervisor over the harassment.

"I'm going to set my phone back down before I get shot and they say that I'm reaching for something," Soto states as he ponders why the officer would pull away and sit across the street during a traffic stop.

After waiting several minutes, unsure if he is still stopped, Soto reminds us all to know our rights.

None of the news reports mentioned that he was BLACK! That is why I looked up his mug shot. If it was white on black, it would be big news, but black on white cop? ... White cop's lives don't matter.

Well, I wouldn't worry too much about his social life MS. I am sure he will fit in very well where he's going when caught.. very well. he will be hanging out all day with his kind doing absolutely nothing productive... just like home. He just won't be able to shoot anyone. But hey, he still has assaults and rape to fall back on, so all is not lost...and if lucky maybe a nice forgiving penpal. cheer up :)

Nothing good is coming from any of this..

We had a 17yo that got shot in the head over the weekend here. Another one of the promoted parties with alcohol drugs and teenagers.. I guess the thug that brought the gat thought it would be cool to fire off a few rounds and show how tough he was..

Sad state of affairs..

We have the same thing in my neck of the woods, but now they don't even bother to pin point the intended target... they just shoot into the crowd... 5 shot in Brooklyn a few days ago and none shot were the intended target. It is now a normal occurrence in the inner cities.

total disregard for anyone's life.. they could care less.

yes, their lives matter,, thats why they are paid to TRAIN thoroughly, given resources to make them 'safer', a leeway that gives them the benefit of the doubt based upon their 'fear' to control the life and death of others,

and insurance to cover the unthinkable for their families

and why they are rarely killed in situations where the average joe would be toast,,,

oh, and why killing an officer is an AUTOMATIC death penalty

I think their value is adequately reflected

I am not sure about this.

Training is only part of process. Anyone can be trained, but that doesn't mean they aren't going to shoot someone if they feel threatened. People are different. This latest cop was a combat veteran and most likely less inclined to be scared of a traffic stop. Maybe that got him killed.

I guess big city cops have life insurance probably state police and county sheriffs, but the local yocal municipality probably doesn't have much.

There are several states that have banned the death penalty, so there is nothing AUTOMATIC about it.

I stand corrected

its EITHER automatic death, or automatic life imprisonment

still is pretty symbolic of how much police lives 'matter'

Just saying what? That telling a teenager to take off his hat and glasses and sit down while cursing at him is why this idiot shot a different officer? Or that since an officer is slain in Memphis and this other officer in a different city cussed out some kid with rich parents that wilbourne's crime is justified?

Maybe if the prison hadn't released this guy to get some fresh meat Officer Bolton would still be serving his country and his community.
