That's why there is an acceptable limit to blood alcohol level. At a certain point it can give someone a sense of well-being, brought about by disinhibition ie. relaxation. At some pount, it can actually raise alertness and awareness, but this is a narrow level and usually is unsustained. Higher levels of alcohol and disinhibition caused by excess brings about the impairment of judgement, more will eventually lead to total disequilibrium and eventually unconsciousness. |

Back in the day...
I tried to keep my blood alcohol level under .26. Because after that, my behavior became very uncharacteristic. |

Does drinking cause uncharacteristic behavior? Should drinking be an excuse for bad choices and alleviate all responsibility for what comes after? Yes...... and No.... |

I once read that alcohol mainly intensifies the mood you are already in, and this has made the most sense to me. If you drink when you are sad, you get downright melancholy. If you drink "angry", you start lashing out at the people around you. If you drink when you're happy, then you get very friendly and loud. In some cases, the problem may not be the alcohol, but the general mood or outlook of the person drinking it.

I don't partake of alcoholic beverages, of any kind. But yes, studies have shown, that drinking alcoholic beverages, can alter a person's personality. Long term alcoholism, can induce early onset dementia. As well as, a plethora of other mental health issues, and physical health problems. As alcohol, can "turn" a seemingly okay person, into a useless drooling fool... ... and "turn" a seemingly loving person, into a raging violent lunatic... I simply have no use for drunks. i was under the impression all drugs alter peoples perceptions of reality... that's why people do/drink them.... |

Hi,
People drink essentially because they like the after effect produced by alcohol,it can be adventurous at the beginning and after addiction very dangerous to quit... |

I only drink when I want to drink
and I only get drunk when I want to get drunk ..don't see where the problem is |

Also, your OP is question begging. Alcohol is irrelevant if a woman is attacked.
It is probably better to say that alcohol makes people more impulsive. They don't think through the consequences of their actions, or don't care about them. Sex, by its nature, is an impulsive sort of thing. You have to be in the mood for it and it's a lot of people's idea of a fun night to have a few drinks and have sex. There's a reasonable expectation on my part that if a lady I'm dating comes round for a few drinks that she's up for it and that she wouldn't wake up in the morning, saying that I attacked her, although it might not have all been planned out and she may not have been in the mood at the start of the night. |

I could tell you a couple of stories though about women that were completely out of it when guys had sex with them. The difference is that a person that is unconcious, or is so intoxicated that they don't know what's going on, can't really consent to anything. There is admittedly a gray area though because a person can be really drunk and still do things that they are culpable for and capable of.
Asking if there's a difference between me going home with a woman that invites me to bed and me following a drunk home and then asaulting her is a silly question however. It's too vague and black and white. What do you count as a sexual assault? Women rarely just invite you to come home with them and take their clothes off and lie down. The difference is between seduction and rape. A woman can complain that she was seduced but it's not a crime and not that different from a guy using being drunk as an excuse for going with some old slapper. |

From extensive research, I've come to the conclusion, drinking tends to make beautiful, the coyote ugly.

For me...no. It seems to enhance things. I talk a lot so when I drink I can't shut up. If I am anger or sad, it multiples it. I feel what I feel and I say what I think but alcohol seems to make it worse lol

There's a line..
having a few drinks socially with friends may make ya the life of the party..have a few more and your jokes may turn from good natured humor to cutting and cruel..have a few more and you are slurring and stumbling your way to the toilet |

Can also make you the king or queen of the dance floor.

I only drink when I want to drink and I only get drunk when I want to get drunk ..don't see where the problem is I'm the same, although I don't get drunk, but I see no harm in a beer or 3 when I feel like it. Having said that, some people do turn into azz holes when they do drink. |
