Do looks matter much in picking a lifetime partner?

no cos u can have the best packaging with a poisonous heart.looks don't count a good heart and intentions does.

looks will fade in time and if you picked wrong you will be left with nothing but your memories of what the person was. its best to pick the person because of how they make you feel when there with you and if they would be a good mother to your future children and a good wife to you.

You misunderstand what shes saying, she isnt saying you have, she is talking about people in general. Someone might look pleasjng on the eye but be a total knob, where someone might not be the best looking person, but have a heart of gold.

honestly it's not the most important thing, having a connection with someone, a mutual attraction is very important regardless of what it is based on. But having things in common and a compatible outlook are most important. It is nice if someone isn't too hard on the eyes as well , even if he's not God

Please refer to the last 20 threads about this topic ...I am kidding, but you have been here for 2years ...The general consensus is yes, looks matter but not as much as personality, intellect, and values...Chemistry and physical attraction fade if you discover you have little or nothing in common...

I believe in the "whole package". Looks may not be the most important aspect but there needs to be some attractiveness to create the initial bond. Of course looks fade over time but that won't matter in a good relationship.

True love can overcome physical disfigurement of a high degree once the bond is made. In some cases, the bond can be made based on little but personality, but it think it is pretty rare.

I realize this post of over 2 years old, but I saw a post on FB once that says it all:
A beautiful face will age and a perfect body will change, but an awesome person will always be an awesome person.
I do want someone that I enjoy looking at as far as facial features, but he doesn't have to be "handsome." He can have kind eyes, a beautiful smile, dimples or something about him that makes me not want to take my eyes off him. Those things won't fake with time. As I get to know someone, they either become more or less beautiful as their true character, honesty and qualities come out. What I've grown really tired of are liars, cheaters, jerks and self centered/absorbed people who are only looking out for themselves. Life is too short to be with someone unkind and unfeeling.
