I have two friends. I'm assuming the they don't know each other or they know who each one is, but they haven't talk to each other ever.
And I know something about one of them that affects the relationship of my other friend.
My problem is that I don't want to tell my friend in the relationship what I know because I don't want to be in the middle of a battle, but at the same time if she does not know what I know, and she finds it out later it is going to hurt her

I think you should always be honest with your friends. And I think you should always try to spare someone from being hurt or harmed. I wouldn't consider it betrayal of the one friend to say something to the one who might get hurt. And I think, if the friend who might get hurt is a true friend to you, she will be grateful for your concern and deal with the issue discreetly enough to NOT start a war.

I believe in honesty. But I also believe that knowledge is a very dangerous thing and speaking and words can be even more dangerous. It is entirely possible that through only good intention and trying to be honest that great unintended damage can be done and I mean extreme pain.

I always recommend a book I have read called:

Words That Hurt, Words That Heal: How to Choose Words Wisely and Well by Joseph Telushkin.

It is widely available and will change the way you relate to other people if you read it. Remarkable.

Unless I had first hand knowledge of an extremely dangerous situation for my friend I would think very long and hard about delving into my friend's relationships lest I inadvertently harm them or someone else with my honesty. Tough situation. Consider carefully. I leave you with this. It is Pandora's box and Humpty Dumpty rolled into one and what is said can Never be retracted. If it is not urgent consider checking this book out of the library or perusing at the local bookstore over a cup of coffee before having such a discussion.

I think it depends on what that "info" is about.

huh

It's obvious a big deal if you're worried about telling them. But I'd probably say something if you know it would be a deal breaker for either person.

Good luck with it!flowerforyou

Darn!! that's when you want to yell "why me? why do I always get TOO MUCH INFORMATION!!!" Boy I would talk to the person who is doing something wrong and make them come with me to tell the person they are going to hurt the truth, but that's only if it is really life altering information!

Maybe let her find out for herself...

She will get hurt when this happens and yes she will not be happy with you but if she is smart she will understand why you didn't tell her before hand.

I think a smart friend will realize what you are trying to do and appreciate your honesty.

I also think that she will be able to handle the situation tactfully and evaluate the facts and the information and make her own deduction of how to proceed.

Life is a series of causes and effects... and I really think everything happens for a reason... so no sense losing too much sleep over it... no matter what you choose to do... because the situation will work itself out in due time.

Your friend will know your intention if they know you at all. I think honesty is best and hopefully she appreciates it. She will still make her own decision. flowerforyou
