Who says religion and science can't come to terms???? If you study you will find lots of "modern science" in the Bible (and I'm learning) also in the Quran. Pretty amazing really.

One could not expect all science to come to terms with all religion if all religions cannot come to terms with each other.

I'd say that's the problem...;+)

Sure. I have found in the Bible and the Quran (I have someone helping me read the Quran) verses that speak of things like dinosaurs, conception, how the different types of oceans meet but don't mix, and how the mountains and earth are not solid but moving. There is even verse that speaks of a flying ember disk....sounds like a space ship huh?
Hey what about findings of science that are proving and validating what is written in the Bible?

Anyways....hey Moewaving

there has been lots of time and effort scientists have put into proving things in the bible, most just don't pan out... think about every artifact they find is studied thoroughly, and stored in museums for other scientist to study... i'm not sure what the Vatican has, but i'm sure scientists would love to study everything in the country, but that won't happen because the priests won't let them... same as in turkey, satellite imagery shows a big boat on mount Arafat, but turkey won't let any expeditions there...

so it seems the religious people themselves are the ones holding up any kind of proof, not the scientists...

The troubling thing about the assumption science is going to answer everything that it doesn't leave room for miracles.

Yes, miracles aren't logical... ! That's why they're miracles.

Monotheism has failed Religion and Reductionism has failed Science to help them come to terms with each other..

Your views?

Perhaps, we need a clear definition of both Monotheism and Reductionism.

'Miracles' as you call them, are not really miracles. People conclude their happenings as miracles as science has not probably been able to put forward explanations for them.

Miracles are slowly decreasing as science is progressing...also, so called 'miracles' of the past, as written in scriptures, may or may not be true. In most of our religious scriptures, myth is so well blended with the truth that it becomes virtually impossible to discern truth from myths.

We have not understood the 'spirit' or the pervading consciousness in the universe, which is why many 'true miracles' couldn't be explained.

nobody has proved it's a boat... just looks like one from satellite imagery...

but some "evangelists" claim it is...

From Wiki:

Noah's Flood

Andrew George submits that the Genesis flood narrative matches that in Gilgamesh so closely that "few doubt" that it derives from a Mesopotamian account.[24] What is particularly noticeable is the way the Genesis flood story follows the Gilgamesh flood tale "point by point and in the same order", even when the story permits other alternatives.[25] In a 2001 Torah commentary released on behalf of the Conservative Movement of Judaism, rabbinic scholar Robert Wexler stated: "The most likely assumption we can make is that both Genesis and Gilgamesh drew their material from a common tradition about the flood that existed in Mesopotamia. These stories then diverged in the retelling."[26] Ziusudra ("he who found long life"), Utnapishtim ("he who found life") and Noah ("he who found rest") are the respective heroes of the Sumerian, Akkadian and biblical flood legends of the ancient Near East.

Today's scientists have substituted mathematics for experiments, and they wander off through equation after equation, and eventually build a structure which has no relation to reality.
--Nikola Tesla

The theory of common descent from a physical ancestor is bunk. The premise that small changes prove big changes is a lie.

I have a car that can go from 0 to 600 mph in 100 seconds. I can prove this by showing that the car can go from 0 to 60mph in 10 seconds. The numbers are there, they add up, but is it reality? Do you believe the same car that goes from 0 to 60 in ten seconds will go from 0 to 600 in 100 seconds?

science isnt truly provable, its provable in a MOMENT, its not proof that it has always been that way,,,,

so, as Ive stated before, the only reason science SEEMS to cancel out religion, is because the things it 'proves' are assumed to have always functioned in the way that 'proof' indicates they function

whereas, a faith in God as creator, will never put such a boundary or limit on how GOD could have functioned at any given moment

it's this kind of thinking that held science back for so long....science doesn't prove the bible is wrong, it helps you out... the internet we're talking on right now, our life spans extended from 40 years to almost 80 now, TV, just about everything you do, eat, and love and hate is all done with science....
