for my son who has Asperger's, we have found a specialist school that will take him in June, after 3 years of being at home he is now going to have the chance to go to a school that cares about his safety as well as his academic studies. im keeping my fingers crossed that he gets on and makes some friends, not only for him but for me so I can go back to part time work and carry on with getting my business sorted. yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees

Awesome!!! Sorry it took so long to work it out. It should not happen that way but I am honest enough to say it often does.

I am sure he will make friends. Probably just the beginning of many good things in his life and yours. Hope so.

I know a few people with Asperger's...I would not put too much pressure on him over friends.

How wonderful to get an environment where he can grow at his
own pace, best of luck :-)

I'm sure he'll find his own way through life. It can always be worrying at first. At least you know he has it now. flowers

You have every reason to be hopeful. The condition has a wide range of results and your child may well surprise you.

As they get older sometimes medications help and certainly acceptance is growing. I remember a time where if you were Exceptional any way things were very different.

There is a wonderful parents magazine called Exceptional Child that to many parents is worth it's weight in gold. As are the state and regional councils of the Developemental Disabilities counsels in every state. If you look in some of the older Parenting threads you will find additional info right here on Mingle. One great thing about being a parent here you are never truly alone.

Some of my little ducklings are high-functioning Asperger's folks. There IS light at the end of the tunnel ~ and it ain't a train coming the other way! smile2

Keep your chin up and remember to celebrate the successes.

You've got heart. Your kid's lucky to have a Mom like you. flowerforyou

he will get taxis to and from school but that's still in the process of being sorted so I'm still not going to get too happy until that's sorted lol.

Second part is a celebratory chant from an old hip hop song popular in the US (15 - 20 years ago ***turns out 30 years ago).

Google it, you'll be amused. (Rock Master Scott & the Dynamic Three)
