im backing the original post that women arent profound as men and all the great writers and poets are men

kind of stupid... men don't listen to poetry, while women do... so who would be trying to impress who?

I knew if I waited long enough someone would point out the obvious... Also doesn't it stand to reason that the writer and the listener have to be equally profound. If not then the writer would have no audience and the listener would be utterly bored

men spend 85% of their lives trying to make women happy, as do women... how many men listen to poetry?

Actually the rise in men reading poetry is slowly climbing they are seriously still lagging behind women and most likely will.

The decline of men reading poetry and verse declined when women were taught to read and write equally with men.

that is true today but isn't true in the past and still men dominated the field of writing whether it is poetry, theater, novels.

I used to think that men {20th century man} wasn't interested in Poetry or anything close to that; then I had a English teacher ask me if I've ever looked at the lyrics of the music that I was playing {she said redundantly playing laugh} and by golly --- she was right!

Our musicians/all those bands/regardless of the genre...are just poetry put to music!

Gave me a new perspective to how those wonderfully gifted humans do what they do so I'm able to enjoy their work flowers

The writer is more profound than the audience...I don't see how any of this supports an objection to the OP

The point wasn't well made...women read poetry so men write....It doesn't hold up as an argument...does it take as much talent to watch a basketball game as to play it...

Truth be it back then women did not have the same rights as men nor the education...

They were seen more of the one that did all the chores around the house plus outside as well as raising the kids...

Basically back them Women did not hold any important jobs nor recognized for what they could do or did...

It has nothing to do that men were smarter or could do it better. It was more that women did not have the right to do so... and be recognized..

But we have come along way~~~~~~~ now women are in every aspect of the work force from Owning their own Business to totally making it without a man in the house...

Techno, Tilly and Tommyboy would make their own Countries proud as Poet Laureate.

Even the great Wordsworth and the like would surely be honoured to have them as friends,
