The tip of my thumb is broken and I hurt all over because the hospital won't give me anything for pain. I can barely walk. I can't go to work or school, probably going to lose my job. Doesn't get any better than this.

At least it wasn't a hit and run. I need some advice how to go about suing the driver too.

not sure how it works in california, but you should have a mob of ambulance chasers hitting you up (even if you are still in the hospital) with all kinds of sweet deals on how much they can get for you and how you won't have to pay for their services
then as soon as you are able to sign a contract, they hit up the insurance company, get a big check for you and keep around 33 percent of that. after taxes, you might be able to pay off all the bills you accumulated while you were at the hospital
after you pay for all the medical bills that insurance doesn't cover, that should just about set you even, so you'll have to get a job

Call information & ask for the toll free number of " Lawyer Reference Service" or your local service number.
They will give you 3 names of lawyers that specialize & yoy choose the area of a lawyer (which means, price range). First consultation is usually free( lawyers profit from the service).

From where I'm sitting, i.e. in tremendous pain, that doesn't seem much worse. Why do things like vicodin and such exist if not for cases like this? Why is my pain being ignored by supposedly competent medical professionals?

Look up Injury Clinics in your area. I was in a wreck back in September was rear ended. I went to one of those Clinics they will treat you and help you get a lawyer.. They will give you something for pain as well...

With mine I have not had to put any money out of pocket.. due to a lawsuit.. And well the one that hit me I will have no problems getting all medical paid..

I've been going to a Pain Management place for injections due to a neck injury.. Since September and just recently got the pain under control.

Just Google them that is what I did since I did not want to pay out of pocket...

Ohh and my wreck was the day before my birthday last year... so yea it sucks but as some said it could always be worse..At least you were here to see your birthday..

Sorry you go hit by a car but if you went to seek medical care and they did not give you pain medication it is probably because you have other health issues that counter indicate it or you did not tell them you were in pain. You can always go to student health where you go to college and get a referral for a primary care doctor. Are you even following up on the recommended after care?

If you call legal referral in Greater Sacramento some actually charge you but surely if you are a future professional you should be able to let your fingers do the walking through the yellow pages and talk to a personal injury lawyer on the phone or even on line if you have a police report and your medical assessment. They will take your case on contingency. If you got hit by and uninsured motorist, highly likely in Sacramento; well yea life is going to be what you can work out. There are victims assistance funds if you go see the District Attorney downtown. Hopefully you were smart enough to add student health insurance policy to your education budget. You can always go to any of the free public health programs, at Stockton Boulevard and Broadway and get care.

If you contact your employer you may loose a few days pay but highly unlikely if the doctor says you must be at home recouperating that you will loose your job. Other wise man up and go to work. Being in and auto accident is bound to happen to you at some time in your life. And yes you are very lucky it was only minor injuries.
