If God got a monk pregnant... that monk would be a martyr in nine months.

I'm not Catholic, but there is no Biblical basis for the celibacy requirements of the Church. Those are man made, not God made rules.

really, what are you supposed to do if no woman will marry you...???

I should have been more clear. There is no Biblical basis for priests, nuns, etc. to remain celibate. To answer your specific question, there is someone for everyone. It's a matter of finding that person.

sex outside the sanctity of the marriage vows is taboo, it's fornication, an abomination to the Lord....that goes for everyone...preachers, pastors reverends, priests, nuns, monks and layman alike......no marriage...no sex..period...

You are correct, but there is no Biblical basis in those individuals not being allowed to marry.

i'm not sure but in 1 Corinthians chapter 7 around verse 8 paul seems to imply that he is not married and does not give in to sexual desire

Yes, Paul remained single, but that was voluntary.

He didn't oblige himself to be celibate.

well don't some people choose to be celibate? don't some even take a vow of celibacy? if a religion requires you to take a vow of celibacy, and you do not want to take that vow, are you not free to choose another religion?

It's the duress of being obliged to take the vow in the first place that is the source of contention.

Nothing more!

Some people choose celibacy, but there is no requirement in the Bible. The Catholic Church, however, does require celibacy for priests and nuns because of widespread debauchery in the early days of Catholicism. That is a man made rule.

And any Pope in succession can revoke it.

ah, well, in most groups that a person wants to join they have certain rules one should abide by to be part of said group. some groups even require an oath be taken. seems to me that some people want to join certain groups without having to follow said groups rules
i guarantee i guarantee that those people could go through all the trouble it takes to make their own group with their own rules. i guess it's just easier to force the existing group to accept anyone despite the existing rules

(bulldog double guarantee - patent pending)

If Pop Francis walk up today and decided for the church that all Catholic "monks" should start having children, what would be your reaction?

Depends on if he says it ex cathedra
