Never been a mother but I know that every parents have only one goal in raising a child.
They all want the best for there children.
If you see a child who is lack of dicipline and disrespectful to there parents then the problem was on the child.
Not only in the US but in the whole world there is a generation change.

This page has a list, see where the U.S. falls on that list...it's a big zero..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parental_leave

The best place for families in the world:
"Central European countries have the longest parental leave regulations in the world. In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, it is standard that mothers stay at home for 3 years after a child's birth.Mothers can decide to take 2, 3, or 4 years of maternity leave."

I agree

a mother who stays home and takes care of her kids is great if there is a man working

but suddenly if anyone else is paying the bills , they are treated like crap

I have kind of thought that the womens movement got it wrong by making the mssage be 'we are equal to you because we can be like you'

instead of

'we are equal to you the way we already are'

so give up your U.S. citizenship and move to Slovakia. And Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

great thing about US is people can actually feel free to address whats wrong(or what they think needs improving)

without being exiled or executed for not seeing it as unreproachable,,,

wasn't being exiled.. who said exiled?

Point is, if you are going to complain about it so much and its that bad.. that unfair..... then go where it is better.

Go to a place that makes you happy.. if that is not the U.S, then like I said... don't let the door hit you on the way out.

U.S. does not respect mothers.

It is more important that we, as mothers, respect ourselves!
Love your child regardless of where you are, with or without the help of the father. Most of us know about your situation by now, so, in a way, my sympathies are with you on your circumstances, but you just have to work your way around or out of it. Go somewhere where you can be less dependent ..... and/or learn to be independent.

Meanwhile, it would do if you could just keep a low profile! Less said, the better, you are throwing a bad light on us women.....and I know I sound patronizing, but like you said, this is the forums, and we can say 'whatever' we want!

I'm glad the guys here can differentiate one woman from another, and that not ALL women are the same. We have some really good fathers here on the forums. You may not be aware, but some are single fathers due to various circumstances! flowerforyou flowerforyou flowerforyou

That's right people, it's really shocking the way we treat mothers so poorly in the U.S. as compared to almost 200 other countries in the world.
Just stating the facts, if they shock you that's because they are shocking.
From the reactions...I see something positive so I will just ignore the rest but I do keep in mind that it's important to respect the opinions of others...let us all keep that in mind shall we?

If A Society Hasn't Learnt To Respect 'Mothers', Then Such A Society Hasn't Learnt The Art & Inner Meaning Of The Term 'Respect'... :-)

I think you are a bit confused Estelle...Respecting the opinion of others does not always mean to agree with them...It's pretty hard to sympathize with a woman who does nothing but complain about lack of support she receives from men and government for herself and her children when she wastes countless hours posting complaints on internet forums...I would think your time would be better spent teaching your children values by earning a living....And by the way, your profile says you live in Istanbul, why so worried about the US?...
