WOW: There are real people with real picture in this topic, and mainly good opinions. The only mistake the sniper who shot mores uncle made was in not getting his dad as well so we would not be having this to talk about! I am a hunter but could not imagine all the snipers go through just to get their prey.....They are true Heroes!

"American Idiot"

Don't wanna be an "American idiot".
Don't want a nation under the new mania
And can you hear the sound of hysteria?
The subliminal mind fu "America"

when lions write history,, hunters will cease to be heroes

That kind of courage, which is conspicuous in danger and enterprise, if devoid of justice, is absolutely undeserving of the name of valor. It should rather be considered as a brutal fierceness outraging every principle of humanity. –

Cicero, The Offices, Book I Chapter XIX

people get in the habit of these generalizations which other people , when their experience doesn't match, are bound to have a voice about

it should not be assumed that all snipers are heroes, or all cops are brave,,, or all 'criminals' are terrible scum,,,, and to the loved ones of those whose lives have been taken, it shouldn't be expected that they adhere to the consensus of them being a hero

,,,

walk in another mans shoes, they say
I can understand both the povs,, the popular 'what a hero, brave person' one

and the not so popular pov that the title of a person taking my loved ones life, or their job position, doesn't automatically qualify them as 'hero'

Disclaimer: This is not my opinion, this is yet another POV from another website

I understand the logic of both points are view, I don't think them right or wrong, I think them both 'understandable'

from http://freedominourtime.blogspot.com/2012/02/pseudo-courage-of-chris-kyle.html

After returning from his first combat tour in Iraq, Kyle recalls, he was rudely roused from slumber one morning when the burglar alarm went off. Although this was a malfunction rather than a real emergency, Kyle’s reaction was revealing.

"I grabbed my pistol and went to confront the criminal,” he recalls. “No son of a ***** was breaking into my house and living to tell about it."

Why was it 'evil' for Iraqis to feel exactly the same way about the foreign sons of ******* who broke into their country and wrecked the place?

Later in the book, describing a stalking exercise during his training to become a sniper, Kyle recounts how he “heard the distinct rattle of a snake nearby.

"A rattler had taken a particular liking to the piece of real estate I had to cross," Kyle recalls. "Willing it away didn't work. I crept slowly to the side, altering my course. Some enemies aren't worth fighting."

Exactly: The only enemies worth 'fighting,' apparently, are those who aren't capable of hurting you when you trespass on their turf.

Life after war...This is Chris Kyle "the civilian" before he was gunned down by a fellow vet he was trying to help...Spend a couple of minutes to watch the video for a most "realistic" look into the life of an American Hero...
