You are right,a lot of people in our site are smart and intelligent,and able to find friends in their own environment.
The only concern is about loosing the communication with family members because of the hours being spent in front of the computer.

Hi! How do suddenly single again females meet suitable men ??When you're no longer part of a couple, social invitations dry up and you become the Death's Head at the Feast for some reason... being retired is a double whammy, too ... no socialising with work colleagues. I was cynical about online dating, friendships, etc., imagining all sorts of weirdos and perverts out there. Mind you, I've come across one or two!! But anyone with a bit of common sense can soon weed them out; usually, they're not too subtle regarding what they're looking for!

cryp, what pictures did you have on there what I saw on your profile seemed ok. Did you ask Mike or Van? Welcome. I went online to meet friends I would never ever had the opportunity to meet, and this site does just that and there are some really neat people here. I am so glad I was encouraged to join in on the forums. That part is addicting!

Do you ever notice that in the 'real world' world people aren't very friendly if you choose to go up to them first? It's so much easier here, same results but better initial.

That is so true 1moresleeplessyouth. In real life, people will most likely ignore each other as they go about their business.
But here, it's different. People are more than willing to be friends.

And how else can we meet people halfway around the world? :)

I came here onto this site to meet guys for friendship. I'm not into the social scene anymore and thought it would be nice to meet some people without any strings attached. I have met some nice friends on the internet, but I am new to this site and am looking for good people to chat with.

Similar to a few on this thread, my friends have all married and it's hard to meet a single person in my age range (37-42, just to throw some numbers out). Shouldn't be, but it is.

I've got no delusions on what I'll find here (I really expect nothing) but you have to try, right? And if I happen to make friends, then it's also a good thing. Of course we're all likely here looking for a partner, a friend, a lover...hopefully all three in one... we can only hope. :)
