With the holidays upon us, I have heard from several peeps (men and women) that singles don't like to search very hard for a date or significant other because of the sometimes awkward idea of gift giving. I am curious to know ya'lls thoughts on this.  I would not want to become involved in a new relationship just before or during the holiday season, but my reasons have more to do with family gatherings and traditional holiday events than gift giving.... |

I think this is rather easy to answer....If you start dating someone new before the holidays, just start with an explanation that this holiday we will not do gifts, or have the suffering take place with family and meeting a whole bunch of new people and dealing with each others traditions.
This way it doesn't create tension between the new couple. Also feel this way, as you the gift giver don't want to get something that the other person might not like. |

I wouldn't want to start a relationship during the holidays..
Possibly have to go to her relatives houses... sit there with strangers and a woman you don't really even know yet... not for me... closed for the holiday season... reopen on Jan 02 |

Christmas is my busiest time of year..
book as many dates as I can.. all those free turkey meals.. not to mention present.. I just love getting presents.... .. and then there are those... .. after the little ones have gone to bed.... and not a creature is stirring not even a mouse..... .. I get to slowly undress her present to me....... I mean unwrap...mmmm . |

I find giving money much more personal than buying a gift.  same here.i always leave a $50 by the bed afterwards

I kinda wish, that it was legal to ship a bottle of a local specialty of wine across the border....2 much tax and legality crap to go thru even just as a gift.
