I had a really rough week last week. Ending in, you guessed it being fired. And why did i get fired? Because I wasnt properly trained. Yep, thats what they told me. I was hired in June at a small office in the company. I loved it there, well in July they needed help in a larger office so they asked me if I would help out, i needed the experience and the hours. so I said yes. They then asked me if I would transfer to that office permanently. I again said yes. But only after telling them that I was not fully trained at the other office. They said that was no problem and I would learn what I needed to while there. I said great, count me in. 2 months later they fired me!! The official reason was poor performance, but if you ask me it is their fault in the first place. They never should have asked me to stay there permanently until I was fully trained. So now I am out of work and have to start all over again. Im not as angry as I was on Thursday but I am still angry a little bit. And ya know, if they asked me to I would go back to work for that company in a heartbeat, but only if I worked for a different PCC.

Wow, that really sucks!!!! If you were still within your 90 day probation time they have that right to let you go....but it still sucks that they couldn't have given you the proper training. I used to work for a company that gave you a day or two of training and then expected you to go it alone from then on. GEESSHHH!!!! there was a whole lot more to that job that needed more then a days training. Then they would come back on you if anything went wrong or wasn't quite to their liking. Micro-management runs ramapant among large corporationslaugh

oh, believe me, I know exactly how it feels. You have incompetant managment, so they blame all the short comings on you. Been there, done that. I am really sorry that you had to endure that stress.

Thank you all for your support. I have been out beating the streets, as it were, trying to find another job. It has been a week now and Im still looking. I did file for unemployment so that should help a little. Tomorrow is the start of a new week, so hopefully I will have good news soon.

Thanks again all!!

just my opinion-
it is a two way street
need to take some responsibility
know your limitations
i was asked to take a director position at our huge hospital
i declined and said am not ready for that yet not enough experience
however, i do feel for you and it does seem unfair
good luck

Sorry, this has happened to you. What can I say, ...how about a hug from an Aussie?

Gather what you've learn and put it to good use at a new position.

Good luck in finding a new job.

heh that happend to me once...

i was asked to implement an entirely new system, which i architected and formulated with specific steps. The company owner, i suppose to look like a big shot, decided to forego the methods i had instituted and the entire rebuild of the new system crashed and wiped out all their data.

I told him that he should've listened and not asked me to architect it if he wasn't intending on listening.

I repaired what I could repair and was "let go" because of poor implimentation of a format i wasn't even able to properly implement... heh...

however, the saving grace? that company was bankrupt in 5 months and my career as a self employed consultant began :)

all things are good things in the long run so hold your head up and walk tall honey :D

in many companies i been to, there is more management than actual workers (i.e. people who actully DO stuff to make the company tick) in an office building.

dont worry, just find another job - its all about the money and life quality after work.

cheers!

being fired is not the end of the world even though it may seem like it at the time. I remember one company where I was fired the company went bust about 6 months later. it was funny to see the old boss out doing yard work for a living.I see nothing wrong with doing that type work, just in this case it was funny.

Sorry to hear your frusterateing news. At least it is a good time of year to pick up interium Christmas work while you are looking for a better place career wise.
I think if you are 40 you are old enough to barely qualify as an older worker which means some perks for hiring you and in just looking.
You are entitled also as a displaced head of household for job training assistance through the federally funded displaced home-maker programs at your local community colleges. Sorry I think you have to be 45 or 50 to get AARP.
Most cities have Urban League, Catholic Social Services, Jewish Vocational Services, Mayor's commission on employment and even churches have Job Fairs and free employment services open to everyone. United Way First Call for Help would be a good second step. You made the first one telling people to get some support.
Not been fired but a couple times, similiar deal, and both times ended up with a lot better job. Best of Luck!!!!!!!

Thank you again for the support. Like I said I am not giving up or anything, I am going to find a new job and soon. Thank you PacificStar for the advice and tips on where to go for assistance. I really appreciate it. I will look into that. My dad called me today and when I told him what happened he said "Dont worry about it, just go get you another job. You are smart, you know what you want, so go get it!" And he is right. And I told him so. Tomorrow is a new day, and the start of a new week. So I start a new search for a new job.

I would say wish me luck, but I dont believe in luck. And you have already wished me the best so I will take your blessings with me.

Thanks again.
