Who here can survive without modern convinces? What skill can you contribute in this? No electric,computer, cellphone.

Ermm .. no electricity would mean no more heating and no tap-water...
No petrol, so no cars, no food delivery, no more food production, no garbage collection etc..

I guess everyone's seen the movies .. rioting, looting, greed, fear etc... Most of us can't even get a fire going from scratch .. I tried .. not as easy as Ray Mears makes it look! Tried the bow drill, nada. Couldn't even get it going with the fire stick :/

What I do have is strength, guidance, common sense, seeing the bigger picture, delegating, keeping it together etc. I'm usually very good in emergency situations, I really shift into gear then.

Yes all the convents gone! But with skills running water(hot and cold) is still possible. Some electric is possible. You can reduce pipes to have hydraulic pressure for a water system, Spring water was used to cool milk to not spoil in the summer. But you need to know about gardening, canning,preserving meats,destilling water,etc!!

^^^This is what I believe too ...It would be very, very hard to do after having all the conveniences, but a hand full? would find a way and life would go on....Survival of the fittest....

Yes there other ways to survive but i'm not talking about surviving off others adding a burden to them (have you the skills yourself) to benefit yourselves and others around you? Say using a skill you have say for a barter system in trading your skill for something you need? Splitting shingles, blacksmith, quilting,gunpowder,masonry, Carpentry,etc;?

Got that just wondering who would be the worker or the thief. Living off others skills without adding to a situation.

There are natural sponges useable for that. And i'm glad to see others having fun with this topic!

How about curing and preserving hides( hair or hairless)?

I could get by nicely. I can hunt, fish, build simple furniture, paint, sew, upholster, care for children, make beef jerky, cook, clean, wash clothes by hand, iron with non electrical iron, give haircuts, milk cows, gather eggs, feed farm animals, and more....so I could get along just fine !

I know you would missy just wondering who else could do it? You would be one of the first that i would be able to believe that could!
