Topic: time to pay up.. | |
---|---|
.. I have met women for coffee.. I have met women for a glass of wine.. I have met women for dinner.. .. Meet and greets.. Take on all forms.. .. I have heard from many women.. Who have gone on a meet and greet.. . The date pays the bill... and then gets very demanding.. That he is compensated..... But yes I will limit it to the main topic... you are truly the light in the darkness. Look D, I'm not trying to split hairs with you, I just happen to think this topic is important (especially to the ladies) as it speaks, not only to proper etiquette, but to safety and plain old common sense...The purpose of a "one on one" meet and greet is to determine interest...It's not about getting laid, it's not about a free drink, or meal, or cup of joe...If everyone treated it like "what it is", it would save all of us who are sincerely looking for a match the trouble of wading through ten pounds of bull chit to find the right guy.... I insist on separate checks on meet and greet. Both of you explained why. Dates are different. But the same etiquette still applies. It's not about anything free for her and, in return, a compensation for him. If I see it going in that direction I'll simply politely say thanks, but no thanks and walk away from either meet and greet or a date. I don't even get why anyone would have a problem with it...If it's a meet and greet, I make it clear when we are making the arrangements...Where, what time, dutch....Simple..... |

Never liked the feeling of obligation with a stranger. As in letting the man buy for favors later. Not. Couldn't have said it better, so I'll second that. |

if i invite a woman out and she accepts, i expect to pay the tab, be it large or small...if it makes her feel more comfortable paying half the bill, i have no problem accepting her generous offer...

Some men are used to paying for everything and still insist on doing so even on a meet and greet. Not all of them, but MOST of them expect a compensation. Sorry, but it doesn't work that way anymore. Welcome to 2014 and good bye. In case of expectations of a compensation call an escort service. Just delete my number, please and thank you. LOL |

When I pay for a date .. I sure as hell better be getting laid .. Haha .. Cheeky grin I paid for mini golf date with this man who lied about his height. That date was a dud. Never heard from him again. |

Simplify things.
Meet and greet at a soup kitchen. Why must I always be the voice of reason? |

.. all I know.. is it is getting really expensive.. going on all these meet and greets...omg... I have probably shelled out about $475 over the last month..... and what really hurts.. is when I know it's not going to be a match... I mean as soon as I meet them.... as were walking into the restaurant.... or coffee house... or. Lounge..... I really must bring up the whole... going. Dutch.. thing earlier in the conversation....lol.. but to be honest there is something... that makes me feel cheap... bringing that up .. the prospects of going Dutch....
... I like the fact that so many of you.. .. insist on paying your share.. or going Dutch.... sadly I have not come across that woman yet...... guys out there.. have you come across this woman..... this woman that offers... to pick up the tab.. or pay for her portions.....lol... |

Good question ..
Read the other day that paying is about an emotional connection, so you don't pay. I head to get my head around that.. but thinking about a date where he was difficult about paying... indeed didn't feel good. However weird it may sound, sort of like "why do you want to meet me if you can't even be ar$** to buy me a cup of coffee? If I'm not even worth a cappuccino, then .. PO! So .. based on that, I'd say it is indeed about emotional connection. As for obligations, why should you feel that way? Usually a guy pays, if he's difficult or awkward about it, I pay my own half. Do you feel awkward? Yes, sometimes. If it's dinner, not just a coffee or glass or wine, I will address the issue beforehand. But don't think you answered your own question: How would YOU feel when a woman would pay either the whole lot or her half, on a meet & greet? |

I only did that when i was a student at university when the girl offered to pay her share, we were both students so it was understandable.....but that was ages ago...as a grown man ive never done that as in let the woman pay for anything |

Actually if it is a first time meet then it should be dutch...
But if you are asking someone out on a date after you have met then the person asking should pick up the check.. It is always nice if the other at least offers to pay or leave the tip at least.. Myself if I ask someone to go out to eat, movies ect I expect to pay the tab and leave the tip and always do... The guys I have dated have never thought anything about it and picked up the tab... Therefore when I insisted to pay the tab once in a while it has always been a nice surprise for them...Kind of like telling them I'm not using them for a meal ticket ect... Not the way I was raised... When you are actually in a relationship each should do things for the other no one should be the only one paying when both are enjoying the company of another... |

totally agree with you.. I like it when my partner does things for me . unexpectedly.... like putting the condom on for me....ok.... sorry just kidding..

If you're not paying, you ARE cheap I don't want a man tipsy ... I want him fully functional .. A woman can get away with being tipsy, men not so much so .. He can have champagne after he's serviced me .. and before orgasm induced sleep kicks in .. |

Easy. I always expect him to pay (Although, I can easily cover it)...What's there to stress about?...
|
|
|
|
I wouldn't really be worried about whose going to pay....but rather focused on getting to know the person....
