@ Leigh2154 quote ".Look around you!...Check out Spain, Greece, North Korea, hell even Venezuela!...Poverty cannot be "cured" by taking from the haves and giving to the have-nots...The only cure is for the have-nots to become productive.."

My friend she lives in Spain. And she had to struggle for a job. Don't tell her that she needs to become more productive.
She has a University degree and raises 2 kids. She had to find a job way beyond her level. And work hard.
Also more people that are highly educated struggle to find jobs here. And have reverted to jobs below their level of education.

Also.. we are talking about my country now. And i can assure you that before the privatisation of things i was happy to live here.
Healthcare was free. And it was mandatory that children got check ups from a dentist that visited the school.
The train would always leave on time. And the railroads and trains where well taken care of.
After they privatised it. The trains did not leave on time. And maintaining the railroads is badly managed now.
Healthcare is very expensive. And there is more and more cuts. People worry about their pensions. Because managers have put all those
funds into the market. And gambled with them. And the result is a deficit.
A government in my country can assign someone in the government to do all kinds of managing duties. And they do not need
a ridiculous salary to do this. So there will be a lot more money to spend on the population.

Trust me.. i would not want to be in the USA in bad health. I know a doctors assistent. And one of her friends is diagnosed with
cancer. She once asked my friend for her gun to kill herselve. Because the pain was so unbearable. And she could not afford medicines.
My other friend she is a university teacher. And she is nominated by the former president. And she does not even have dental coverage.

If you think it is fair that companies like Starbucks can dodge taxes. Then it is your opinion but not mine.
Do those happy 1% provide your country that much ? Not really.. they will go abroad where there is cheaper labour.
I never said that people should not be able to pursue to become rich. I am not propagating that the super rich should maintain
the poor. Because that is a fallacy. No one wants to be poor. But if people do not have the chance of proper education and
healthcare or jobs. Then do not blame them for not advancing in life.

I don't think it's fair that anyone, individual or corporation, can dodge taxes...I have been calling for tax reform in my country for as long as I can remember...Relatively speaking, those 1% are not required to provide my country anymore than the remaining 99%...That's called freedom....As far as I can determine from what you say about the "super rich" and those living at poverty or below, we agree!!...I am saying rather than support the poor, use the money to empower them to become more productive...

In Spain the top individual income tax rate is 52%...Top corporate rate is 30%...Overall tax burden is 31.6% of gross domestic economy...Public expenditures are 45% of gross domestic income...Unemployment rate is at 25%...Inflation is at 2.4% and Spain's economic freedom is ranked 47th...It's improving, but how do you think it got so bad in the first place?...

In the US the top individual income tax rate is 40%...Top corporate tax rate is 35%...Overall tax burden is 25% of gross domestic economy...Government expenditures are 40% of GDP...Unemployment rate is at 8%...Inflation is at 2.1% and the United State's economic freedom is ranked 12th....Hopefully, in 2016 these numbers will improve...

Taxation

Taxation is the claim that a group of people who call themselves "government" have been given the "right" to confiscate an arbitrarily-chosen percentage of the product of another individual's labor (a form of property), whether or not the other agrees to share that product voluntarily. Taxation is enforced by the threat of violence (behavior resulting in bodily harm) or imprisonment (the taking away of physical freedom of movement) from those from whom the product is being seized attempt to resist the confiscation. This practice is always "justified" (made into a right) by those who claim that such a practice is necessary and required to "uphold the common good". If we define slavery as the involuntary confiscation of one hundred percent of the product of the labor of another human being, we can clearly see that there is no magical percentage to which we could lower this number (other than zero percent) that would no longer constitute slavery. If we are being honest with ourselves, taxation is merely a euphemism for theft, violence, and slavery, the practices upon which it is actually based. Since no individual anywhere on earth has the "right" to claim ownership of the product of another's labor such behavior can never be "delegated" to a group and called a "right". Therefore, all forms of taxation are always wrong according to natural law.

However, notice this is for people, not persons. Persons are fictitious entities created by the state for a privilege of doing that which would be illegal to do without such privilege provided by license or charter.

Before 1913, the US had no need for the income tax upon individuals. The "government" had all the money it needed via indirect taxes, so much in fact the direct taxes were very seldom used except in time of war (which these united States were starting to get addicted).

And even now, individual income taxes due not run the country. They are used to pay the Federal Reserve the interest on the debt that is and of itself unconstitutional.

Taxation in The United States is a system under which American citizens are taxed...At the federal level, personal income, corporate income and capital gains are all taxed on a progressive, bracketed scale...Along with sales tax and various taxes on wages, some states also have income and corporate taxes too...Compared to the rest of the world, individual income tax is on the low side while corporate income tax is on the high side...
The purpose of taxation is to ensure American well-being by achieving the highest possible level of growth in a private economy while maintaining an efficient state 'in a supporting' role...If you don't like that plan, relocate...

Any tax based on a living human being is illegal unless one is so inclined to volunteer. Would you like to start with the thirteenth amendment:

Section 1.
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Believing that anyone owns any portion of my person, especially my labor is involuntary servitude. To try and declare that not paying taxes is a crime and then subjecting me to any involuntary servitude would be ex post facto law.

Atricle 1, Section 9, Clause 3:

No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.

There have been many opinions by those mystical beings in black robes that the 16th Amendment conferred no new taxes.

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

In fact those mystical black robed beings have said the same thing so many times and so many ways that they now refuse to cert any more cases challenging the amendment. And within the context of their opinions, they have been absolutely correct, it conferred a voluntary requirement as required under Article 1, Section 8, Clause 1:

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

Voluntary by the fact that you can avoid the tax by not participating in any of the areas in which the tax applies. (Oh yes, by the way this is the lawful means in which the government can be run).

But the real meat of the matter lies in Title 26. Where does it declare any living being as a taxpayer? Don't know, it's never been found and the IRS refuses to address the question.

Also in Title 26, just where does it state the fruits of your labor is income (which by the way income is defined as gains or profits)? Again, don't know and the IRS refuses to address the question.

So being a good patriot, I volunteered to pay any tax due upon presentment of the law showing me to be a taxpayer and inclusion of a certified invoice showing any amount due. I'm still waiting.

So I love the plan, don't really plan on relocating and am insulted by the insinuation that I should somehow be a slave to any one or any thing.

Did I mention that I also travel in my private conveyance and am working on allodial title to my land. It is remarkable when one becomes free.

@ allnewman

"
Anarchy

From the Greek prefix an: "without; the absence of" and the Greek noun achon: "master; ruler". Anarchy does not mean "without rules". It literally means "without rulers; without masters". No Rulers. No Masters.

Anarchy is the state of existence where there are no masters and no slaves. Therefore, anarchy means the absence of slavery, or in other words, freedom. "

Yes you are right. That is the true meaning of the word. Although i find it hard to imagine that there can be an absence of hierarchy.
Even in chaos.

But do not confuse anarchy with chaos. What is in this world now is chaos. Anarchy is not without rules, just without rulers. The rule of law still stands, natural law, not man-made statutes.

So what does this mean for Man's Law? Simple "if / then" Logic

If a particular man-made law is in harmony with natural law, then it follows logically that it is redundant, since it is stating a truth that is inherent, pre-existing and self-evident. Therefore, it is both irrelevant and unnecessary.

If a particular man-made law is in opposition to natural law, then it follows logically that it is both false (incorrect) and immoral (harmful), or in other words, wrong. Therefore, it can not be legitimately binding upon anyone.

In light of natural law, man's law is irrelevant and unnecessary.

Equality Under Natural Law

Everyone has the same exact same rights. No one has any more or less rights than any one else. Also, since rights are not created by humanity, and since they are the birth-right of humanity, gifted to us by the creator of the universe, no human being or group of human beings is actually capable of granting rights to anyone else, nor is any human being capable of "revoking" rights from anyone else.

"Government is nothing but men acting in concert. The morality and value of government, like any other association of men, will be no greater and no less than the morality and value of the men comprising it. Since government is nothing but men, its inherent 'authority' to act is in no way greater or different than the 'authority' to act of individuals in isolation. Government has no 'magic powers' or 'authority' not possessed by private individuals. Let he who asserts that government may do that which the individual may not assume the onus of proof and demonstrate his contention." - Chris Lyspooner

What are rights? Where do they come from? One's answers to these questions determine whether one is capable of defending a free society. If one does not know the nature and source of rights, one cannot know whether rights are real or imagined. And if rights are not real, there is no foundation for freedom; governments and societies may do as they please.

The traditional answers to the above questions fall into three categories: (1) Rights are moral laws specifying what a person should be free to do, and they come from God. (2) Rights are political laws specifying what a person is free to do, and they are created by governments. (3) Rights are moral laws specifying what a person should be free to do, and they are inherent in man's nature. But each of these theories is demonstrably false, and a person or society attempting to defend freedom on such grounds will ultimately fail as Americans are failing today.

Ayn Rand's answers to the above questions, however, are demonstrably true, and those who come to understand her answers thereby equip themselves to defend freedom on solid, philosophic ground.

Toward understanding Rand's theory of rights and its crucial value in the cause of freedom, let us begin with a brief overview of the traditional theories and their essential deficiencies. Then we will turn to Rand's theory, see how it solves the various problems left unsolved by the other theories, and discover how it grounds rights in observable facts.(Rather long,so you need to read the rest of the Article on the Site!)

Lucky for you, talk is cheap and tax free...

No, lucky for me I have the conviction to live as a freeman. I am willing to pay the price. I went the extra mile, sued the IRS in their own court where they quickly corrected the deficiency and had the case dismissed. They have tried other harassment but I extended an invitation to participate in a regular federal court, they declined. Yes talk is cheap and many do it, but that is not me. I stand on my rights and am ready to defend the same in any court at any time.

Also, I am not giving any legal advise, just a basis for research if one wants to pursue it. As to the IRS, there are a couple of pieces missing on my post because unless you understand the process totally, you will end up in jail, not free. Remember, they have the guns.

And as to my automobile, it states "Private Conveyance" as I have taken it out of commerce. It belongs to me and no other. By statutes they somehow assume that I am liable for some huge fine for refusing to beg (apply) to donate (register) my property for their benefit (tax). But I can't claim all the credit as there have been some before me. But still I am willing to stand up and demand that my rights be observed and to defend against all comers those that try to violate them.

And land, all it takes is time if you own your property out-right and I do. All that is needed is to establish the land patent in my name (a simplified version of a process) and that is just a matter of time and research.

But why we are on the subject, how about the largest tax of all, one that can't be escaped, inflation. This is a doctrine where if you try to save for the future, it's worthless. You end up with less than you started with. It is a doctrine that keeps people in the here and now. A doctrine that punishes those that plan for a rainy day. You could try to invest but that is all rigged and unless you are a member of the club, you will lose.

This keeps one on a very short string where at any moment you could be on the top of the world and next you are standing on a street corner wondering if you will eat today.

So go ahead, support that statist idea. Let them make you a slave. Give to them what is yours. Live life secure in your fear that at any moment the world you knew is no more. That last depression was nothing compared to what the psychopaths have in store for this nation.

A government in my country can assign someone in the government to do all kinds of managing duties. And they do not need

Really?

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

But still I am willing to stand up and demand that my rights be observed and to defend against all comers those that try to violate them.

https://www.theobjectivestandard.com/issues/2011-fall/ayn-rand-theory-rights/

Absolutely ridiculous! Ayn Rand was all about philosophy and her philosophy was well worth considering and incorporating into life. But to listen to some clown, Craig Biddle, distort her words is just pure pain. And to read his words as he distorts the words of Ayn is pure torture.

The bible, the oldest written book on philosophy, has been distorted through the millennia by organized religion to something akin to what this Biddle clown is trying to do to Rand's works.

While I cannot deny some supreme element whether called nature or a god for this wonderous universe, I cannot subscribe to some faith based religious favor, something acts as our creator. Like many of the founders, I subscribe to the philosophy of Diesm. While I must thank my parents for the physical shell in which I use to transit this life, they were not the creator of my spirit. That is the creator that gave me the spirit that is uniquely me (yeah I you are thankful for that uniqueness as I doubt you could handle two of me).

So that leaves the rights endowed by my creator, inalienable rights. First, they are moral as without morality ones view of rights would be totally distorted and would transgress the rights of others and if you need to have faith in a god to get there, so be it.

Second, a just government has no rights not lent to it by those that instituted it. Otherwise it is not a government but an institution of enslavement that steals all the rights and instills privileges according to it's will. And privileges granted can also be privileges removed.

Third, there is really only one right that could be stated as either: 1) do not steal or 2) do not trespass, both statements one and the same, a violation of property.

Every harmful action that a human being is capable of taking is a form of Theft. Some form of property is always being stolen when a wrong-doing is committed.

Life is a form of property.

Rights are a form of property.

Freedom is a form of property.

A living being or their property must have been harmed in order for a violation of natural law, or a wrong-doing, to have taken place. Any action which does not cause such harm is a right.

Natural law always holds true regardless of a population's belief systems. This means that it does not matter how many people agree that "a wrong can be turned into a right", or that "a right can be turned into a wrong". Such things can never be done in reality. People can only believe they can claim such reversals and that this will magically make it so. Unfortunately, most human beings erroneously believe that it is morally possible for them to create and delegate "rights" which do not exist or to take away rights which do exist.

Another way of saying this law would be to say that the presence of truth and morality in the lives of the people of any given society is inversely proportional to the presence of tyranny and slavery in that society. True freedom can never exist in a society that embraces "Moral Relativism" (the idea that there is no inherent and objective difference between right and wrong, so humanity may arbitrarily "create" or "decide" right and wrong for themselves).

Therefore rights can easily be defined as being free to do whatever one feels, right up to the border to violating anothers rights.

And yes Jefferson and Locke had it right:

"A free people claim their rights as derived from the laws of nature, and not as the gift of their magistrates." - Thomas Jefferson

"The natural liberty of man is to be free from any superior power on Earth, and not to be under the will or legislative authority of man, but only to have the law of nature for his rule." - John Locke

That seems to be a severe fault of mankind that the elite exploit. The large majority of man will always state - "Why doesn't someone do something about it?" In my case, I am that someone. When I am transgressed, I do something about it. Sometimes it's painful but in the end it was worth it. Unfortunately, the benefit just like the pain is all mine. It does not carry forward and never will until others do likewise. You can spend a lot of time crying in your beer, but in the end all you end up with is watered down beer.

This is a great link as you can pick any country you wish to review...

Oh yeah, in spite of the ACA, the US continues to offer superior health care....If I'm going to get sick, I want to do it here or in Switzerland...laugh
