Some friends and I decided to make Christmas gift baskets for the families we buy for this year. So what Im asking for is suggestions on items we can make to put in them. Everything in the basket will be homemade. This is what we came up with so far

MicheleNC suggested painting pill containers and filling them with matches, we are also going to fill some with toothpicks

Potholders
Jewelery
Candles
Candy
Cookies
Reciepe boxes
Dolls
Puzzle Books
Books created for the children in the families
Embrodier or cross stich pillowcases

As you can see we haven't come up with many gifts for just the men. any and all suggestions will be appreciated

last christams I was so strapped for money I made all my gifts...I made personalized glass ornaments. They were so easy to make and everybody loved them. I even have some of the glass oranments left over, if ya think you might want to try making some.

Thank you all for the suggestions, please keep them coming.........this year we have chosen to give gifts from the heart instead of store bought......tired of the monetary value tied into Christmas........and for the most part we have little to buy since we do crafts together as a group........so we can fill the baskets up with little money involved, and lots of love

I always think books are a great thing, if you have books you've already read to pass them on :)

Cookies In A Jar

Gathering Supplies

Quart Size Canning Jars with Lids
Scrap Fabric
Ribbon
Glue
Paper
Recipe and Required Ingredients
Examples:
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Chocolate Cookies
Decorative Brownies
Deluxe Candy Cookies
Hot Homemade Cookies
M & M Cookies
Oatmeal Plus Cookies

Filling the Jar

Thoroughly wash and dry the jars and lids.
Pick a recipe from below and gather your ingredients.
Using the instructions and tips from the recipe you choose and fill the jar!

Decorating the Jar

Fabric: Cut a circle out of the fabric that is 6 - 8 inches across. (I traced around the top of a bowl!) Place the round section of the jar's lid on the jar and center the fabric on that. Screw the other section of the lid in place to hold the fabric. Fluff out the fabric where it comes out from under the lid.

Recipe: Print out your choice of the printable recipe card/gift tag that goes with the recipe you chose. Trim closely around the recipe and graphic. Put a small piece of scotch tape on the upper right-hand section of the 'Printable Gift Tag' recipe (right behind the top edge of the graphic). This is to give it a little extra strength. Use a hole puncher and make a small hole in the taped corner.

Ribbon: Cut an approximate 3 foot piece of ribbon. I actually used 2 pieces of ribbon with colors that matched the fabric. Thread the ribbon through the hole in the 'Printable Gift Tag' recipe. Wrap the ribbon around the metal of the jar lid and tie it into a bow. Secure in place with a small dab of glue behind the bow and in the back.

I know most of us have cell cameras, but little kids don't and are probably not allowed to use them. I've found that little tykes love to get disposable cameras.....Then they get to go have them developed and like a present, they get the pick. Really makes them feel special......or they can have thier pics put on a CD.........either way, it has worked for me. And the cameras are fairly cheap.
Nice idea to make the gifts personal.
