What would you rather be in life: encouraged or validated? Which one feels more rewarding to you? Why?

Encouraged=100%.

You can wait a lifetime for validation.
Encouragement boosts you daily.

It depends who's validating me, if it was my Father then yes, but the problem for me starts when the people who validate you are not worth a carrot themselves.

One is support in the journey, the other is praise in the result.

Both are needed, but I value encouragement and support more than the validation.

For all the reasons already mentioned, I'd vote for encouragement.

"Encouragement" seems to suggest a positive, outer force whereas "validated" is an internal state; that one can receive lots of encouragement and still (choose to) not feel validated, as that would be internally-driven.

Yes I get you.

I was warned by my Tutor to expect both joy and sadness when I pass my exams.

The joy of going through the hardship and toil and frustration of learning but actually acheiving something.

But then the reality kicks in of what you've done and you kind of ask yourself, what next.

Understandable I suppose.

I've never been motivated by winning. Living is a constant journey that doesn't stop going on no matter how many times I lose.

The times where I was encouraged and supported were better than being azz-kissed for something anybody else could do in their own way if they put their mind to it.

What would you rather be in life: encouraged or validated? Which one feels more rewarding to you? Why?

Encouragement, simply because it is validating.

This is like asking "what would you rather do in life, eat food, or feel full?"

If it's an either/or then I would rather eat food, as that would make me feel full. If it didn't then I would have brain damage and it would be moot.

One is support in the journey, the other is praise in the result.

The journey isn't over until you're dead.

I value encouragement and support more than the validation.

I'm not sure you understand what constitutes validation.
It's validating when someone values you enough to support you.

Although some people are insecure or have some sort of mental/personality problem, and when someone "validates" them via encouragement all they get out of it is the other person believes them to be incapable without support/validation, so they are unable to feel validated from encouragement instead seeing it as an insult.

I would choose to be encouraged...

Encouragement produces positive results...Validation is simply one of those results...
