Topic: The Walking Dead Season 5: Like it or really like it?!

Just watched the latest episode. In my opinion the show just continues to get better in almost every respect. The story seems more cohesive than previous seasons, the flashbacks aren't overdone and are employed in very interesting ways, and (though I haven't read the comics), from what I understand we're a little over 1/3 of the way through the story.

Also... was I the only one who kinda guessed the Eugene thing?

I guessed the Eugene thing last season and was hoping to be proved wrong.

I agree that this season has started strongly. Last season with the conclusion of the Governor Arc was good, and it needed to be because 2 and 3 were quite slow and weak in places.

But the show has hit its stride now and the characters have altered (and in many ways reversed) which is good for the overall dynamic.

Who knew Carol would ever become Sarah Connor?

Watching 'The Talking Dead' afterwards (I don't have to turn the
scary sound off there) they made an interesting point, the guy who
plays Eugene said that all characters have to eventually learn how
to fight back, as that is the temperance of the times they are
living through.

And they are bringing his character to that, as all the others
are there already.

I'm getting tired of all these subplots and back stories.. myself... just get on with the show...omg... it's surviving zombies... how deep does it really need to be.. I just get invested in the story... and then they go off on some other sub story... to try to fill in..
.. for lack of good writing.... it's just turning into this dragged out.... don't know where we're going.... don't really have a plan... just winging it...
... endless scenario.... Rick makes bad decisions... everybody else pays...hmm... I would have left this group a long time ago... for zombie bait..lol..

.. I know like oh my god.... how hard is it to make a zombie movie.. or TV show...... first make the zombies look realistic.... and make them fast.. not like super fast.... but can run you down and eat you fast... I mean you would be avoiding zombies like the plague.. none of this walk up to them and stick a knife in their head stuff...

.. I mean they would not get tired.. because they literally could..chase you for days.... now that would be fun to watch... you would have to be constantly running.. scrambling over things.... keeping very quiet.... I mean the slower members of your group...
..... god help them..... it would be epic.... just the visuals alone.. your group being chased.... the camera pans over your shoulder.... to see one of the slower members of your group... getting taken down.... like a pack of hyenas taking.. down a water buffalo.... the sure panic.. that would rip through your body.... as you're running.. Full.out.. looking over your shoulder... at your comrade being taken down... and knowing there is nothing you can do to help them.....
. oh I would watch this every week..lol.... and the children in your group...omg... parents wouldn't even been able to watch the show...lol...

No no no no NO! I don't agree with that script. You gotta rewrite that otherwise the show would be over in 2 weeks, there aren't that many ppl left to sacrifice :/
What I don't get is why Daryl and Carol don't get down to business? They sleep in the same room, neither has been intimate for god knows how long, they like each other .. nothing happens?
And why burn bodies? It stinks, it attracts attention "Hello!! Here we are! Come find us!!"

I like the extensions to the story. If there are other survivors, then what kind of people are they. We keep finding out. Rick named the theme in his chat with Carl. No matter how safe you feel, your not safe. ...because sometimes survivors are more dangerous than zombies.

I also loved what someone else pointed out...that you learn to be a killer or you die. It will be interesting to see how Judith's character grows if we are allowed to see that....

lots of lessons. I love the show. and the metamorphoses of the characters.

I agree with you:thumbsup:

No one is remotely who they started out as in the beginning and that is the beauty of it all. Far too often characters never change throughout the series. I love it, make a party of it every Sunday night and I'll anxiously await the return in February.

Just an FYI.

If you go to AMC.com/thewalkingdead you can sign up for their newsletter emails. Today, I got one that has an interview with Melissa McBride (Carol) about her experiences shooting scenes and her character.

Pretty cool.

the only thing that has annoyed me about season 5 so far is all the flashback scenes.for instance, the last episode with the flashbacks of Carol.we have already saw those scenes and they added nothing to the story line

Hmm.. less talking.. more zombie.. butchering..... they have so many parallel story going on... you only really get 10 minutes of the actual storyline.... its a zombie TV show..
. I don't need to get that invested in the characters.... I want to feel bad if they get eaten.... I find I don't really need to know who they are... and this thing where they're always out of water and food... and can never find a vehicle to drive.... have they never heard of a car dealership... A used car lot.... a million zombies.. and a handful of survivors.. but yet all the cupboards are always baron.. who's eating all this food...lol.... and it's set in the United States... why do they have so many problems finding guns and ammo.... it's the states.. there's probably a gun in every house...lol..
. just saying.... I continue ..to watch it cuz I'm invested in it.... but if I just jumped in.. two or three episodes ago.. I would watch something else..lol

really? I think they add extra wrinkles to the characters. we get to know them a smidge more. I like em.

when she told Daryl about her and her daughter being in that place for abused women or whatever,if they would've shown a flashback of that, that would've been good but when they were showing flashbacks of Carol attacking Terminus,it was stuff we had already seen.so it was kind of pointless
