they tried to instill gender roles in us. and maybe to a point it worked.
however, there isn't always going to be someone from the opposite gender around. when our dad died, and my brother, not even twelve became the 'man of the house' it was a good thing that at least 2 of us girls knew how to do some minor repairs around the house. when he went off to the service and then to live on his own, there was no constant woman to do the 'woman's work'. it's a good idea for either gender to be self sufficient. |
