At signings I've met Stephen R Donaldson (author of the Thomas Covenant book series, he turned out to be an a-hole) and Ann Rice.

Back in the early 90's at a show in Portland. I was standing in line to get a pitcher of beer. The girl in front of me was ordering a pitcher of water, she turned and bumped her pitcher of water into me getting me wet. It was Julian Hatfield who was there performing with the Lemonheads. She felt bad and paid for my pitcher. I had a total crush on her and all chances of me acting smooth and cool went out the window, I'm not even sure I said anything coherent to her.

I'd love to meet Ann Rice and chat with her about her Sleeping Beauty novels....lol

not a celebrity, but a tribal leader. actually he started a conversation with me at in the auditorium before a big native American gathering.
I treated him with great respect because of his advanced age but wondered why everyone kept staring at me for speaking to him.
when they made the introduction of the speakers, it turned out this very humble man was the tribal elder.

eternity and crashed killing all aboard.

There are a lot more. You cannot grow up in California without
meeting a lot of celebrities, not even intending to, as I am not
impressed with titles.
