suppose that half of a days worth say 1000 jsh readers have read half of Lex's posts. since we all know Lex although a man of choice words does have and average post length slightly longer than most - as you might suspect from his profile - and they sometime require a second third or even "multiple" re-readings...or even an online latin dictionary...

given all this (you still with me here?) we have 500 people time reading 2500 posts for say about 2 minutes each - accounting for the fact that some of the attention deficit types have to bail -

that comes to 2500 thousand jsh minutes a day.

or, in other words, 4.75646879756469 jsh reader years per day.
since the average jsh-er annual wage is $75K/year this represents a loss to our economy of $356735.16 per day rounding up to the nearest cent.

total bill: 126997716.96 (126 million nine hundred ninety seven thousand seven hundred sixteen and 96 hundredths dollars annually) - yes, Saturdays and Sundays do count - probably should count *extra* as overtime!

talk may be cheap, but reading really runs into the money

so be selective regarding which profiles you read!

Hey, did you ever actually click on one of those?

A couple years back, I was really bored one night and clicked on one of the "Free $500 Wal-Mart or Target Gift Card" things. I figured I'm at Wal-Mart pretty much every week, so what could it hurt?

But it went into about 116 "surveys" and then there was a point where it said "in order to qualify for the gift card, you must take advantage of at least 282 of the following 2496 offers." And it was stuff like you had to send away for some exotic cheese made from rhino dung or something, and then you have to buy a Lear jet, and then you have to solve a crossword puzzle that entitles you to buy an old castle in Romania, but you have to pay for it to be rebuilt so they can film a Dracula movie there....

Anyway, I never actually got to the end of it.

The moral of the story is don't click on ANYTHING ever.

Now how am I going to post this....?
