i would be honest and tell her i'm broke and for now i can't afford an expensive ring
which as a matter of fact is my reality now, so i don't have the money to buy a real one.
maybe not even to buy a fake one, sorry!!!!!

if he's the love of your life, who cares if it's fake or not, it's the symbol behind it

I think as long as he didn't try to pass it off as real then it would be just fine! There is a lot more involved w/ marraige than a piece of jewelry!

I would have to get her something real. Whether it's a diamond, or a ruby or emerald, it's the point of it being real.

I would be fine with it as long as he was honest about it.
i would rather have his REAL LOVE.

great
i see some people would be with me even though I'm almost homeless.
but the good thing I'm going to end up college debt free.
so next year when i start working at the title company, all the money will be earnings
my truck is paid off also
so is just insurance, rent, gas, and food
maybe by mid next year i will be able to afford a real ring
yee haw

i believe that if an older person gets with a younger person, there should be a consensus that the older is better looking, less smart and less wealthy, then its known its true love and not just mindless lust.

If the love is real

Does it matter?

I would never give a fake ring and say it was real. That's not being honest and true to someone you love!!! If some guy is willing to do that to you rethink things! Now, on the other hand, if he is up front about the ring... you make the choice. He might not have enough saved up, but really loves you. That's between the man and woman involved.
I don't think that the ring itself is as important as what it symbolizes.

he should give her a promise ring. if he doesn't call it that, he's a cheat, a liar and you can feel free to add a coward as well.

The ring doesn't matter to me if it is fake or even if I get one as long as he loves me I am happy and willing to work on the rest..

personally i think giving her a fake would be a good test to see how the marriage is going to last because too many women are focused on how the wedding looks more than how the marriage will be,so if you give her a fake ring and she could care less, than that to me means she loves you but if she's looking for this expensive ring, the marriage will be a mistake because she's more interested in the money involved.

but that's just my opinion:wink:

dishonesty has no place in a loving relationship.

that said, i'd give her a fake if she was ok with it.
there is little difference between an excellent fake
and a real gemstone. if it is beautiful and she and i
were to spend the money saved on something really fun
like a new home or vacation for example, and she was
down with it then sure why not?

on the other hand, if she wants a real one, then get
something special within your budget and it will be a
keepsake for her and potentially a family heirloom.

so sell it gypsy, get a beautiful fake replacement and
take me away from here to an exotic place of unimaginable
romance...
