is there any other reason to own property!!!...lol.. renting an owning both have their pros and cons..
.. renting no maintenance..
. owning sense of ownership..
I'll be it False !because the bank ultimately owns everything..lol..
you buy a car you pay it off.. free and clear.
.. drive it till the wheels fall off of it..
it goes to the scrap yard.. guess what the bank owns the scrap yard...lol..
it gets recycled turned back into a car.. Back to the bank again...
. the endless cycle of life..lmao

lol, I also wouldnt finance a car, buy it straight out used, or if I had the money, new,,,

to me, giving money to someoe each month is the same, undesirable,,,

you can't go wrong with real estate!!.
unless you get upside down in your mortgage... which unfortunately alot of people in the States we're..
when the economic crash hit..
. for my partners and I.. it was a buyer's feeding frenzy.. the problem becomes how long can you afford to sit on the property... before you can sell and see a return on your investment... and buying is always better than renting... no offense..
. but when you retire you do not want to be paying rent... and then there's always the equity you have built up...
... it is a long term investment.. property you can will down to your children..

Very true I don't regret buying myself. Just at times it would be nice if the repairs was someone else worries.

At least with it paid for I can do a few repairs here and there...

And like you said it is a investment... At least it will be worth more then I paid for it in the long run... Just at times I wish I had bought farther out an not in town...

But, having my own place there is no way I could live in a apartment to close for me.... I do enjoy having my own space that I can change or do what I wish with it... If I want to paint my walls purple I could and not have someone telling me I can't do that...biggrin

I sleep on people's couches. If I get lucky, they'll invite me over to their bed.

My property tax here is $220.00 a year.

The outside is basic and the tax man can't come inside.

The tax up north is$60.00 a year.

No way I could find a place to rent for $260.00 a year.laugh

In order to own I built my house and live on the top of a mountain in the forest... I razed my kids here and I miss having them near.. But when I sell I'll make a good profit... And move closer to at least one of my kids and be able to see some of my grandkids more often.... Even the real estate is about location and this location is choice being 5 minutes from town..and peaceful..wow I saw the above post, my taxes are right at $3000 a year..

Right now i rent. I've owned houses in two states-North Carolina and Virginia. I tried the Renting thing just once in Virginia and the tenant has more rights than the owner! Taxes are also high in both states. Liquidated all owned property last year before this injury(thank god) On a 62,000.00 house here yearly taxes are 120.00 my daughter's home! I've listed 2 more parcels i'm looking at on another post here. Waiting for answers of bids now. Unless there's a marginal profit now (i'm not investing) The economy in the United States sucks for investing with Government as it is!! You make it - they take it! Cash is better kept a secret!! Bank account kept at a minimal for scammers or profiteerers out to benefit themselves!! I've also learned from one bad mistake (always have an ongoing loan) Keeps your credit rating up! You pay off all debts and in 6 months you are starting at square one with that NO RATINGS AT ALL!! No i don't need a creditcard, that yields a high interest payment and unnecessary!

I will give you one more tip that was given to me by a Bank President years ago!! When buying or selling property don't receive or make out for more than $9,000.00 in 1 months time, anything $10,000.00 is reported immediately to the I.R.S. so Be Smart!! Don't believe Me Check it out yourself!

Call tax assessors office where you might want to relocate to.

Ask for a list of tax sale properties. The list usually includes addresses and you can use an internet map to get a good, up close, satellite view.

This was very sound advice willing2 in fact I wrote it down in my journal so I would not forget, thank you very much sir.

A lot of times you can call the banks for a list of forecloses as well....

The house I have was bought by my ex mother in-law she got it on a bid due to being foreclosed got it cheap she did repairs that needed to be done at the time then I bought it from her... Forclosers are the way to go can get them for normally half the cost they are worth and then fix them up.

One three bedroom mobile home on a corner lot, in town, I paid 2,500.

3,000 in repairs.

I did the labor.

That is the way to go... I'm in the process of doing repairs now to my home... that is needed... Slow process since my son has been helping me some and then I'm doing the painting and what repairs I can do...

My home here is a heavy aluminum, 40 foot, park model trailer from the 50's. I put a 25x14 ft addition. Cut out an arched entry from the addition to the trailer.

Perfect for me and a woman.

Even have a room for the grandkids to VISIT.laugh

Oh I thought you were serious.

I don't understand. Is that humor or sarcasm?

I have two properties left.

Soon as I finish a settlement, I intend on investing in more.

Investing isn't for the folks afraid of commitment.

Best part of my place here, I can vacation in Mexico any time I wish to drive the five miles to the border.

New is nice.

If I put a 50,000 mobile here, I'd be in debt the rest of my life and property taxes would be unaffordable.

When it cools off, I'm ripping out the bathroom and redoing it.

I want a tile shower. I've done a few for other folks. Now it's my turn.

Well you laughed so I took it as a joke.

Investing into anything should never be taken lightly. But this is for folks who fear change.

I actually have plans to travel the country one of these days.

Cool.
I've hitchhiked through most states.

I recommend it. The view is awesome.
