And to go along with the last quote from Britty -

"We are not afraid to entrust the American people with
unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and
competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let
its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people."

John F. Kennedy

I am inspired to tears each time I read the "I Have a Dream Speech"

I have a Dream by Martin Luther King, Jr; August 28, 1963

"I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."

It inspired a nation to do the right thing and from its inspiration was formed THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT OF 1964.

Sorry, couldn't resist sharing an American Dream.

I have a Dream by Martin Luther King, Jr; August 28, 1963

"When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"

I appreciate people who are civil, whether they mean it or not. I think: Be civil. Do not cherish your opinion over my feelings. There's a vanity to candor that isn't really worth it. Be kind.

Richard Greenberg, NY Times Magazine, 03-26-2006

"Consider it pure joy my brothers whenever you face trials of many kinds. Because you know that the testing of your faith developes perseverance. Perseverance must finish it's work so that you may be mature and complete not lacking anything" James 1:2-4

Morning everyone... flowerforyou flowerforyou

The winter prepares the earth for the spring, so do afflictions sanctified prepare the soul for glory.

—Richard Sibbes

Do not even such things as are most bitter to the flesh, tend to awaken Christians to faith and prayer, to a sight of the emptiness of this world, and the fadingness of the best it yield? Doth not God by these things (ofttimes) call our sins to remembrance, and provoke us to amendment of life? How then can we be offended at things by which we reap so much good?.... Therefore if mine enemy hunger, let me feed him; if he thirst, let me give him drink. Now in order to do this, (1) We must see good in that, in which other men can see none. (2) We must pass by those injuries that other men would revenge. (2) We must show we have grace, and that we are made to bear what other men are not acquainted with. (4) Many of our graces are kept alive, by those very things that are the death of other men's souls.... The devil, (they say) is good when he is pleased; but Christ and His saints, when displeased.

—John Bunyan

As the wicked are hurt by the best things, so the godly are bettered by the worst.

—William Jenkyn

Isaiah 55:12

For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

What was it that drew men to Jesus? Yes, he spoke with authority and he did miraculous and wonderful deeds, but I think the one thing that men could not ignore was the compassion and love that came from his heart and onto his face and into his words and deeds.

If we abide in him as he abides in us, we begin to see things differently. We begin to look at things with his eyes.

~Bob Benson

HEBREWS4:12.

For the word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
