Your profile needs a bit of tweaking. You don't sound very confident in the way you write and writing for a plea for help may not be the right approach to meet someone but of course that is just my opinion. Yes; there are lots of scammers here and you have to be so darn careful. An idea is you can google how to write a dating profile and take some ideas from some of the good profiles. I agree getting rid of the job maybe a good idea. I think also mentioning the horizontal polka is probably a bit crude.

I disagree with some. The pictures I think are fine. They are down to earth and represent the type of attention you are looking for.

Overall it is hard on these websites to not come off looking like you are giving a laundry list of yourself or what you expect to find in a partner.

Lastly, this is just me speaking but the reality is if you think someone is too good to be true they probably are.

The picture is okay. But, how about a smile. I would suggest adding pictures of you having fun. Pictures of you bowling and visiting historical sites would be nice. Tell people what you want from them. I.E. Man to enjoy bowling or whatever. Everybody eventually wants a partner. But in the beginning focus on fun. Almost everybody will say they are honest however, most are not. Dishonest guys can see you as an easy target. When reading your bio, you come across desperate, clingy, and easily taken advantage of. You are AWESOME. Show that to everybody. The losers will see a hard target and the winners will see you more on their level. Does anybody want to date a desperate person. No way.

It's the nature of the internet, as I have quickly found out. If it is any consolation, it happens to males and females. Do some research as I have...that way you can spot the scammers almost instantly. Never send money...never believe someone who says they love you within a week...never ever give them personal information unless you are willing and able to pay the price for it. You get a better idea of who and what the people are really like on the forums. It takes time and a great deal of patience, but some are worth the effort. I've been here for almost a year, and even then, it's sketchy. You can make a lot of friends, however, and they are worth the effort expended. Sometimes, what draws us to these places in search of a soulmate, may result in only some awesome friendships. In the long run, some of these are really worth the effort. Best wishes!
