Maybe someone can enlighten me as to the purpose as to why someone wouldnt have a profile pic. Personally, I will not speak to someone if they dont have a profile pic that shows their face, specifically. Its like being in a dating environment while wearing a paper bag on your head as you go around and introduce yourself to other people. I get a lot of chat requests from people who have no profile pic, kinda drives me crazy. I dont know.... this has just been a pet peeve of mine. Maybe you guys could shed some light...

Almost as bad as the people that use a picture of a pet or even a cartoon, no I'm not looking to date your pet yorkie, as cute as they may be I'm interested in the person behind the profile and what they look like.

I had a pet peeve one time. She died and I buried her in the backyard. Had a nice little ceremony too.

lots of reasons for this.
some people do not care what you think.
some people come here for the forums and not for dating.
some people truly don't know how to post a pic.
some people are more protective of their privacy and only expose themselves to people they are interested in.

bottom line...personal choice.

yes there's that too. the thing is, everyone has his/her own reason why they choose not to post a pic, just as the have their own reason for posting the pics they do.

Personally, I would not usually talk to someone who has a sign that says ask me for Pic. It seems like they might have insecurity issues. I have other pictures on my profile, but I also have a real picture of me for them to see also.

Yes, there are many legitimate reasons not to post pics. Some, could be scary.

This website isn't strictly a dating site. Some people come here simply to have conversations.

As many people have stated before, there are many reasons. However, I understand what you are saying: it is counter-intuitive if you are on a dating site and do not post a photo. Also, if your photo is from 5 years or more ago, that is deceitful at best.

And I have a list of pet peeves: diminutives, micro managers, disorganization, untimeliness, junk email, untruth, not listening... I am not letting them go. Let other people learn to do better. lol

Actually, it's quite common for scammers to steal pix from "dating" sites & pass those off as their own. So, IMHO, having a pic doesn't necessarily mean that they're legit.

But, OP...bottom line is that you don't have to respond to the "shadow people" & you do have the option of blocking them...so really, it's not that big of a deal.
