.. well that was kind of the.
bad part.. I had gotten to know her and like her.. but as the. meet and greet.. got closer.. I started to feel betrayed.. like she had deceived me.
. and then I realized I do not want to know somebody that would do that.
. and besides.. she couldn't book an ambulance to come help her out of her bed......laugh .. oh yeah and happy birthday to you...

Maybe someone can enlighten me as to the purpose as to why someone wouldnt have a profile pic. Personally, I will not speak to someone if they dont have a profile pic that shows their face, specifically. Its like being in a dating environment while wearing a paper bag on your head as you go around and introduce yourself to other people. I get a lot of chat requests from people who have no profile pic, kinda drives me crazy. I dont know.... this has just been a pet peeve of mine. Maybe you guys could shed some light...

The first woman that I dated from the internet had no picture. I hadn't uploaded one yet either when she agreed to meet me. She said that she wasn't bothered about them and that she didn't think that you can tell much from a picture. When I met her she was actually rather pretty. She was a bit strange though and she had some issues and also a disability. Maybe it was about wanting to be accepted for who she was and she didn't want to atract people that judge on first impressions or something. I'm a bit like that myself but how I look isn't something that I'm insecure about and I just accept that most women are going to be interested or not depending on the first impressions. I don't think that I'm bad looking, so I try to make a good first impression, or at least atract women that are actually going to fancy me. I figure that the women don't just look at the pictures and will also get a good idea of what I'm like from my profile text and messages. I just choose not to put things on my profile that might put them off before they get to know me a bit. Going back to that pictureless woman with the issues and disability; in her place I wouldn't want people to think that I was making a big deal out of them if I was her. Most people have problems of some sort but that doesn't mean that they want to put them on other people, or to be put in a box and negatively stereotyped straight away.

Sorry for going a bit off topic. Just a few thoughts that I have about what people choose to reveal straight away.

I agree with the OP, profiles without photos are annoying.

The owners of such profile should be denied the ability to contact members who have proper photos. Sunglasses, long range spec in the distance, blurred the back of heads, torso's, *** shots, pets, landscapes, keep calm and....pics etc. It's a form of game playing loading the deck in your own favour. "I can see you but you have to earn the right to see me".

Many of such profiles will tend to describe themselves as attractive, sexy, good looking etc. Well anyone who believes themselves to be attractive to all members of the opposite sex. Has an ego I for one, don't want to contend with.

Some will try and claim that they are trying to avoid unwanted attention. Everyone deserves a chance. Once someone does something you're uncomfortable with, the block button erases the problem, simple! Probably the best way of weeding out suitors that aren't right for you.

Round up all the profiles without proper photos and put them in their own group. They can then fumble around, in the proverbial dark together.

Those who have a profile pic of something other than yourself have simply found a different way to represent ourselves. It means something if you take the time to askor be oobservant.
Or it tells us something about them.
Hope my fellow mingle friends will forgive me giving myself permission to use your name.
NASCAR's name and picture tell us about his passion for racing.
dub's cartoon guy makes me think he identifies with that character we grew up watching.
Franky's current pic reminds me of survivors, though I haven't asked.
there are others I could name, but I think you get the idea that each one has a story.
If anyone cares to ask, I tell them what my pics mean to me, besides that I appreciate landscapes.

OK your on. I DARE you....what's my avatar say to youlaugh

I use different pix but i always have one of me on my profile. I got tired of guys hitting on me that were spammers. Im no beauty but im not dog doo either. It let me know who had actually read my profile. It also reflects my interests or frame of mind.

I can tell you my personal reason. I photograph very badly. Any recent photo that I post would scare just about anyone away. That's why I post old photos that aren't too awful. But I just got a new camera and when I figure it out Madame Bride of Frankenstein will be here.

I recently met a man that I talked to on another site who had no photo. I was more interested in what he had to say than what he looked like. He wasn't Brad Pitt but he wasn't Herman Munster either. I would have liked to know who I was talking to before I met him, but it wasn't crucial.

Mind if I take a crack? lol

It looks like a Poser3D Model, that has been modified for larger, um... and surfaced to look more modern in style. It looks rendered in a very basic setup, with a single ray-traced light source. However, the ambient light is set way too high as all the shading is too even toned. No drama. It's most apparent in the face area of the image, compared to the shadow that is cast on the backdrop. Note the harsh (sharp) edges of the shadow. Most shadows have a soft edge as very few man made light sources produce hard light.

It looks like a single fractal noise texture, most likely not an image map. The settings look a little strange if the artist was trying to replicate the texture of fabric, particularly denim. The boots have no edge (this is what gives away the Poser3D model) or any other 3D detail to make them look like footwear, and not an extension of the calf. It's like the clothing and accessories were stenciled on to the model, instead of adding geometry for more visual detail. The lack of specularity differences in the materials, shows a simplistic view of materials. Perhaps that was the artist's vision and it was stylized, but... I believe this is a beginner's image, as the values are the defaults of most software commercially available. The effects were added to the stenciled surfaces, however the values of the textures were not adjusted, simply left at their default settings. The ambient light being overall too strong is another indicator that it was a beginner. For more accurate flesh tones, texture and look, the artist should have added sub-surface scattering.

One of the best things about 3D modeling/rendering is that you have infinite control of all the variables, to where you can create photorealism or stylize anything you want. However, unless you highly modify the stock models and default settings, it just looks plastic and like that of thousands of beginners.

As for what your choice of that image says about you, I can only surmise. Perhaps it was something in the pose that resonated with something inside you.

I met a guy once, who used his profile without a pic for two reasons. One personal, and one for his job as probation officer. He sent me a pic with his first message and explained the situation. Turned out to be a nice guy.

I don't photograph well either, so if someone doesn't like my picture, I figure it's part of the weeding process.

The pic I have now is more interesting than a pic of me.
But I'm a person who does more than talk (sometimes) so for a little while I will change my primary pic to one of me. (And yes, that one has meaning also.
