Apparently the court did not agree that this was simply a racial bias matter because they declined to let the kid out.

When the courts start caving in to vigilante groups we have a bigger problem.

When someone goes to jail for assault, he has to go through the system, and then he gets out. The system says make bail or stay in jail till trial. Happens to everybody in that predicament.

I don't think they kid needs 15 years in prison over this. 15 years is too long. Probably he has had enough jail time already, but I don't know his history, or the likelihood he will repeat. The justice system will not give him 15 years anyway.

The court did not say he was innocent, they said he could not be tried on the charge as an adult because he was 16 at the time of the beating. Now they have to choose to try him as a child or release him. Sounds like the justice department is working in his favor.

The NAACP was ON IT when the news of Vicks being arrested and i can say this is true for it happened up the road from my home. WHY did the NAACP want to get so involvend in the Vicks case? to promote his NFL gear being put back on the shelves?? NO..thats pulling a RACE CARD. Those dogs VICKS MURDERED had not a care in the world what COLOR any MANS SKIN WAS. They were fought, hung, electrocuted, shot and MURDERED. The NAACP had NO REASON TO BE INVOLVED IN THIS INCIDENT WITH VICKS other than to cry FOUL.

What has me so goddamn angry is the fact that all of the white people on this site are deliberately ignoring the fact that these white kids, got together, discussion a plan to insult and humiliate these black kids by way of their race and it seems okay with most of the white people here.

The law works in the South and we are not a bunch of racist people. This is not the 60's and these were punk kids, all of them, black and white.

Why did these black kids choose to be confrontational about sitting under the tree? Was it instigated intentionally by the boys or the NAACP? and how did it become so well known across the country?

Perhaps, it wasn't the NAACP making a mountain out of a mole-hill. Perhaps what brought this to National attention was the severity of the beating!!??

Like I said Southern Whites are no more racist than Northern Whites. There are racist on both sides of the Mason Dixon line and across all International borders. However, it is not a majority nor are racist attitudes widely condoned.

The arrest came after the teen allegedly drove past a crowd of people who had attended a civil rights march earlier in the day. Thousands of demonstrators had been protesting about an hour away in Jena, Louisiana, in the wake of 2006 incident that began with nooses being hung from tree.

Police in Alexandria, Louisiana, say they've charged the teen (Jeremiah Munsen) with charges that include inciting a riot and first-offense drunken driving.

A 16-year-old passenger in his truck was also arrested.

all I can say is take AWAY THE COLOR, and what have you got? Both groups /persons were wrong period. and that is how the judge or anyone else should be looking at it!!
