...around to meet your new mate?

It seems of late that the guys that I date mention meeting my boy. However, I am not in the habit of mixing my family life and my dating life.

What are all of you other dating parents doing?

Please don't delete this for being in the wrong forum! I wanted more opinions!!!

Time to put the little one to bed. Hugs, M

My daughters have not met any man other than their father....It puts a serious damper on my dating life. I have friends that get their kids involved right away and then when things go bad the kids are caught up in it too! I just don't agree w/ that...but when to involve children? That's a good question! I am also interested in others answers...

I brought a guy to meet my daughter after dating him for 9 months, he was the first guy I had dated in the 2 years since I seperated.
She was so rude and wouldn't speak to him, I was furious at her lack of manners, She was 19 at the time, we broke up 2 months ago due to other reasons.

Guys need to know of kids upfront.
They can't say you tried to trap them then.
Any I have ever dated, if kids around I wanted to know.

I am wondering about that one, too. I do not want my child bonding with people and then they are gone. I was thinking that I would have my child only meet someone when I get in a serious relationship.

But..my child wants to see what my dates look like. And..my dates always want to meet my child.

A person you date should know you have kids...

As for meeting the kid's?

Well I would suggest only if you are getting seriouse about
your date- should they meet the kids and start including them.

You really don't want to put your kid's through a bunch of dating crap, or meeting several different people.

Some- you may not even want to get around your kid's.

If you are feeling confortable with this person- than it would be time to involve the kid's, after quite a few dates...

JMHO

I am finding that they want to involve my child in activities.
I am thinking that they want to see what my child is like.

But....I am not comfortable with that.

It is really hard to be a single parent and try to date at the same time...when kids are involved, it so important to protect children from harm and hurt....so i think for me..i would prob wait until after i do the background check, the credit check, the most wanted search....LOL...just kidding...just go with your instincts!! I would say at least a couple months..but thats just me!!!laugh laugh laugh drinker flowerforyou

If not comfortable with something DON'T DO IT, always go with gut instinct.

I'm learning that. I have even had men ask me to bring my child on the "greet and meet" and they want to bring their child, too. No way! Introduce a stranger that I haven't approved?? Yikes!

Some kids will purposely scare off anyone taking attention away from them. It depends on the child's age and how they react to change and company. Some guys may run when they see the little "monster" that looks at him like he is an alien.laugh laugh

 My monster was 19 at the time, sometimes feel she's still attached to my hip.

I havent dated a lot in the past 8 years......decided ok will accept a customer at works invitation to dinner, well my at that time 15 year old son took a dislike to him. He questioned the guy, argured with him about everything he could, then decided it was a good time to make the music of tooting..........this was before the date even got started, afterwards my beloved son continued his antics, needless to say he never asked me out again...........if you have a son like I do, who has to approve all his mothers and sisters dates then you wouldn't be dating much so if they are young children, don't leave them bond until you are sure, if they are teens get luck...........
