As a Christian would be outrageous throw away the rest of the bible and cling in just one verse.
I suggested what i suggested for non-christians who think of the bible as an absolete book.
If they just can learn what love is as it is explained in the verses i posted, that would be a good beginning.
from there maybe with the Lord blessing they can open their heart to the rest of the bible which is an excellent manual of life.
I'll keep not agreeing with those non-christians who are always finding inconsistencies in the bible just because it does not fit their set of values.
And once again the fact that i don't agree with them don't mean that they stop being my brothers.

Well, some find love in the bible, I usually find in my heart, so I don't have to look for it in books.
And some read about love in the bible but don't act it, I find that far worse than to see the bible only as a book.

I always like to translate the bible as one simple sentence: "Don't be a jerk"

i dont look to the bible to "find love"... but i have found that the more i read and study the bible, and try to understand its divine wisdom, the more i love it. Its just too perfctly written to not be from God.

love is great but its not the only thing that comes to mind for me about God......Vengeful... Jealous....intolerant are just three definitions of God from the bible that come to mind. Actually he has many "names". He certainly is not all touchy feely happy happy joy joy love dove like the corporate churches expouse.

Another unique Biblical claim to love, is the fact that God Himself that created the universe, and all of us, came down to the same earth and human kind that He created, and suffered great humiliation, got spat on, had rocks thrown at Him, took a beating that no normal human could withstand and live, took a crown of thorns on His head, and hung on a cross carved out of a tree. why? BECAUSE HE LOVES YOU.

He didn't have to do it. He could have said: "Oh well, you guys messed up, not me." but no, He CHOSE to do it all in the name of a little four letter word that is so overused, that in most cases today has no meaning, that yet even some people have such a hard time using.......L...O...V...E. Love.


So, I'm curious here, not bashing u or anything...just wondering......where can you find, and prove, that the bible has no unique view on love?

he cant do it as it is impossible to prove. even his warped scientific brain can detect that truth. we should pray for him that he can see the true light for what it is instead of what he has been programmed to believe his whole life. he calls us mindless but hes the one who is lost and chained to a set of beliefs that dont make any sense (from either a biblical, or logical impartial standpoint.)im not admonishing him im really trying to reach him in my own weak clumsy way. once he has been made aware of the real truth, its his decision what to do about it. Well if you take that literally then anyone who knows love knows god. A lot of people know love who reject the Bible, therefore the Bible obviously isn’t necessary to know God, by the book's very own proclamation.
