We are For the most part Broken and hurt Torn and weather beaten Like the ripped sails of a storm ravaged ship Look at us The whole lot of us Milling around open campfires of despondency Seeking warmth from the cold winds of failed promises Perhaps, just perhaps If we put on facades of smiling faces and speak glowingly of how wonderful we are We just might get the attention of another broken soul To keep us company in a sad, broken world.

Unfortunately there is a lot of truth in your poem, but there is still hope in the land. Maybe.

Although your poem is well written and points to a sad truth for some, I prefer to bend, not break!
