My youngest daughter was here yesterday (with her hubby)from PA. Jeff went to an archery tournament so my 2 daughters, Cheryl and Debbie and I went to Amish country shopping and had lunch. Had a great time! Last evening we went to a birthday party for my oldest grandson, Anthony, who is 24 today. After we sang Happy Birthday, we got wonderful news. Anthony and Melissa are having a baby.. I'm going to be a GREAT GRANDMA!!! I'm sooo excited!

Going to be a beautiful day today although a little chilly, frost was predicted for last night and again tonight.

The social pain of loneliness produces changes in the body that mimic the aging process and increase the risk of heart disease, a new study has found. As people get older, their cardiovascular functions diminish - but loneliness appears to accelerate the process, explained researchers at Cornell.
For the study researchers investigated 182 men - split between 18-30-year-olds and 65-80-year-olds, who were asked to perform a speech and complete some mental arithmetic in a laboratory.
Those men who perceived themselves as lonely had increased measurements across the board - and the effect was even more pronounced in older adults, putting them at the greatest risk.
"The most striking thing we found was that the cardiovascular response of the lonely young adults to the social stressor task looked more like that of the non-lonely older adults," a daily lead author Anthony Ong as saying.
While prior studies had found a link between loneliness and stress-induced changes in cardiovascular responses, this is the first to look at young and older adults in the same study and is among a select few to analyze cardiovascular recovery rate.
"I think it's helpful to distinguish the emotional pangs that are associated with acute loneliness from the more chronic feelings of distress that accompany perceived deficits in the quality of our social relationships," Ong said.
"Viewed from this perspective, acute loneliness may be seen as adaptive, signaling us to repair social connections. However, it is the persistence of loneliness over time that may set the stage for health problems in later life.
"I think one of the most important and life-affirming messages of this research is the reminder that we all desire and need meaningful social connections," he added.

Loneliness is a choice, just like everything else in life.

Seems like when you don't see someone for a while, and they're close to your heart, time doesn't matter. Good morning Ray. Morning came early for me today. Started waking up around 2 and fimally gave the battle up at 4..will ( hopefully) be an early bedtime tonight !

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend as much as I enjoyed mine. Drove up to Franconia Notch New Hampshire for a quick camping weekend. It was supposed to be fri-sun, but they were calling for thunderstorms on fri. so sat-sun was better. And it was. I heard the storms friday there nasty by those that were brave enough to weather it out. By the time I got there on saturday all was dry. Very pleasant, but seems it's too cold at night for me this early in the season. I'll stick to summer camping after July 1st from now on

I missed the storms here over the holiday weekend..but we got 5-7 inches of much needed rain. Jemare we are already having triple diget heat..

I don't even like double digit heat when I see a high number after an "8" I can't even imagine how you handle triple digit weather Some say "but it's dry, not humid" I grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, so I understand humid I'm sorry, hot is hot (dry or humid) to me. I hope your air conditioner was running well and you get some cooler weather soon Viv, you're a stronger woman than I... (bowing down to you at the thought of triple digit weather).

Jemare..this heat is killing me !! I put a window unit in my garage, because I was working out there a lot…but my house is OLD and I guess between the air compressor, the sewing machine and the a/c..it was just too much..all my new wiring is not working now..and yes I checked the breaker boxes ( for you men who are reading this..lol) Still not working !!
