Topic: Robert DeNiro or Al Pacino? | |
---|---|
Al's performances in Scarface and Godfather 1 & 2 were very special. But DeNiro has been in many great films like: Goodfellas, Deer Hunter, Godfather 2, Heat, etc and he was always brilliant. Al's been in a few bad films. I didn't think his performance in Heat was anything special either. Actually I think he spoiled it a bit with his strange outbursts and that sex scene near the beginning, although I think the director was partly to blame for that as well. No need for it.

DeNIro...just a better actor.
Pacino sometimes overacts. Spencer Tracy, when asked about the secret to acting said: 'Don't let 'em catch you at it.' I can catch Pacino :-) |

I agree. Although to give Al his due, he does go out on a limb, which is admirable. And because of that he's given exceptional performances. But also some bad ones too.

Ya, between the 2 of them, I will guess they
get offered all the plum roles first :-) |

DeNiro. Besides the obvious Taxi Driver, he's brilliant in The King Of Comedy.

DeNiro!!
Excellent in Cape Fear remake!! "Do I look destitute to you, counselor" |

Togo and Teebee, good choices. The original Cape Fear is also very good. Robert Mitchum played Max Cady. You should watch it.

I cant choose on a professional level, both brilliant at what they do.
I have a weakness for Pacino's voice though...lol |

They both have different styles Red, and to be honest I can't answer because I like them both equally. Both are great actors but if you held my feet to the fire I would chose Robert DeNiro.Gaining and losing all that weight for Raging Bull was just fantastic!

Robert DeNiro by a furlong. His range is way bigger than Al Pacino. Comedy- Stardust, The Family etc. His gangster/tough guy roles are too numerous to remember.

Civilisation is a construct so in fact everybody's an actor. What it comes down to with professional actors is the kind of person they are.
De Niro's a good guy. Al is too, but not quite as much. |
