I am not putting you down for dipping or putting down smokers. I just stated the facts I have picked up during years of typing medical reports. I have worked in hospitals for years and have seen very sick people fighting ugly cancers, and typed their medical reports.

You are an adult and are entitled to make your own decisions. I wasn't attacking you or making fun of you. You are right about drinking pop being bad for us too, and I do drink diet pop, that is my addiction.

for once somebody please offer me proof that smoking is what causes lung cancer, there are millions dying of lung cancer and other types of cancer,, a good portion never smoked a cigarette in their life, and please don't blame it on second hand smoke, more propaganda. I never hear any one mention the crap we breathe everyday coming from motor vehicles, factories etc etc

the preservatives put in our food. I was speaking with some doctors at a local cancer center not too far back, this was their very thoughts as well. The human race has been smoking for 100's or maybe thousands of years, heck i remember back 30 years ago you didn't hardly ever hear of people with cancer, breast cancer was the biggest issue. Now it's running rampant, everybody around has a member of their family recovering from or dying of cancer. I am not saying smoking isn't bad for your health, it absolutely is, but I think we need to rethink this and get down to the real source of the problem. Chemicals in everything we eat, drink or breathe.

It doesnt bother me, I am a smoker but always ask the person I am out with if it bothers them, and if it does I will excuse myself so it doesnt offend them.

I agree with you Steve - they fill our food with crap, hormones to make the animals grow faster, produce more milk, antibiotics to stop them from getting sick, pesticides, herbicides, pollution is all around us in everyday life. They are crossing animal genes with the plants, something like a deep sea fish gene with tomatoes so that the tomatoes will tolerate colder climates and not freeze so fast. Who really knows if genetic altering of foods will do anything down the road. I live in a town that has a paper mill, you should see the garbage that spews from its smoke stacks daily, and there is an area coming into town by it that stinks all the time. It is on the bay and that bay runs into a canal, and I have heard that there is a "cancer row" of people getting cancer following that line down the canal that they suspect is from the mill pollution going into the canal water. It can't all point to cigarettes, or chewing, but I have personally known smokers who have lost lung capacity and become short of breath from the smoking after years, and know men who got mouth or throat cancer who "dipped" so again, it is their choice. It doesn't hit everyone who does it. Not everyone who flies in a plane dies in an airplane crash either. But I do agree with your thoughts.

I've already lost one aunt to lung cancer and on the verge of losing another, I do believe smoking helps the cancer to grow...it surely doesn't help it. It's just sad how wide spread this disease is and growing in numbers every day. I'd bet my life some where there has been a cure found but like the cure for diabtes just recently found...it gets hushed up.grumble grumble grumble
