I have a cousin in the Military who just retired and did some investigating for me. There are a lot of men on here that say they are Us citizen deployed over seas and need to get home but don't have access, and need you to pay for them to come home, which is like $6000. This is a scam Ask questions the any US military personnel will know that that is not a possibility unless there is an emergency in their immediate family, then it doesn't cost them anything, and they have to return other wise it is a crime. If the person tells you that they have been deployed for like 2 years it is a load of crap. The longest our troops are being deployed is 9 months to 1 year. since we are really not at "war" we are just on a peace keeping mission. If the are over seas longer then they have been stationed at a base of their choice and that would be like Japan, Turkey those are permanent bases not the temporary ones in like Kuwait, Saudi, Afghanistan, Iraq. Ect... There are also other Nationals that are trying to get into the states through scams Nigerians are others that are scamming women. Stating they are Us citizens and received and inheritance so they had to go to Africa and the inheritance is from Gold mining and is in the form of solid gold so they need help getting it transferred into actual Us currency and then they need you to pay for them to get to the states with the promise of millions and such. Their are others out there too. You can usually tell by how the word things in their chats or emails whether they are us citizens or not. Please if any of you Gals have any questions about guys you are chatting with you can email me I would be happy to get you the information you need to verify whether or not the person is real or not. My cousin can look into all of these and get you the information. I would be happy to help. No one should be used.

lol....... There yhu go, help me to tell yhur cousin to investigate again, hey dear! Are yhu really sure that yhur cousin was talking about Nigeria, because i have been there, and see them. They are nice and good in terms of character. So i will advice, don't judge people before meeting them.

Actually there are a lot of incarcerated people on line; men and women. What makes me mad is taxpayers are paying for it.

And some of them are using your stolen phones because consumers have not demanded a kill switch on a stolen device.

You may remember I had a home invasion a year or so ago.....well the burgler's and the look outs all were using stolen cell phones. They had a backpack of jewelry and cell phones they had stolen for homes in the neighborhood in the predawn hours.

Word to the wise there are a lot of scammers that are telling you they are military and they are NOT.

If a service member will not give you his name, rank, and unit address whenever you ask they are a SCAMMER!

ALL USA service members are entitled to receive mail at a APO address that can be verified by Intellis or for that matter Department of Defense Criminal Investigations Department. They have the exact same photos I have seen posted here on Mingle as does the Site Military Scammers.com.

There are all kinds of creeps trying to tell they are affiliated with this UN Peacekeeping force or some kind of private for hire soldier and that and I guarantee you if they are they are not about to risk loosing their security clearances blabbing it to you.

NEVER out another member as a scammer, report them instead.
This is for everyone's protection.
They could easily post the same thing about you, which sets
up a 'He said/she said' situation.

Edited for posting Member's names.

it's really not that hard, if they ask for money or favors, just stop there... they are smart, they ask a lot of informative (to them, not you) questions at the start, then start saying everything you want to hear, based on your answers to the questions they asked...

think I am from Jamaica, and my country has been in the news big time for scamming. They are everywhere and still, that does not mean the majority is doing it. Genuine persons are out there seeking companionship, but the good will always suffer for the bad. My take on this is, if one knows they did not buy a lottery ticket of any sort, especially from a foreign country, how can you be willing to pay out funds in order to collect winnings. It just doesn't make sense. On the other hand, if an online relationship develops between two people, and the one wants to send money to the other, let it be that person's own decision to do so. Meeting in person doesn't guarantees one's safety either, because one can lure another to their country and the foreigner ends up dead, and chances are their bodies never found. So it can be dangerous both ways, online or meeting in person.

I have received several IM's since returning to this site, and all from people from Ghana and South Africa. They are all scammers so far. I just either play with them a bit or block them.....or both!laugh

You might think I'm being dramatic, but always put your safety first. We all get carried away, and we sometimes forget anyone can have a plan in mind. Just saying. And keep as many safety things near you as you can.

Yes I agree, I wouldn't meet anyone without a call first and the first meeting would defo be in public.
Starbucks for instance.

I am pretty open...to a select few that I feel might understand and if I feel like I want you to really know me...but in what I call the "New Meat" brigade....the initial onslaught of offers you first receive when you join a dating site (I was on another one years ago)...there have been some real crazy intros....
One guy told me to hurry up and respond or he would feel bad...I guess he is feeling bad.
Another just said "I love you, do you text?".....silence
Anyone that approaches me like finding a partner is a job...or mission.......moving right along....
If I experience any amount of hesitation in responding...I usually don't. I let my instincts do their job. So scammers coming my way have a snowballs chance in.....

And Uganda and India love me too.....I don't get it....

Seems to me that lies gets people more interested then truth. It's sad to see that people start of with lies...

4Sandrine actually has a really serious point.

While I love my country and have spent my life trying to make it better I think it is important to say to the world on an international site the facts.

There are a lot of people that get lured to other countries with dreams of escaping the terrorist bombings or hardships in their own countries; or even their own states and end up in terrible situations.

My city has a big problem with this. At one point news media put up programs how we supposedly have a progressive policy about trying to help the homeless and immigrants but the reality is there is a constant battle waged to shut those services down every day. And yes there are laws on the books but they don't mean a whole lot if they are not enforced.

And sadly because of these out of date reports, over a decade later people come here hoping that being below the snow line in the capital of California that things will be all roses. And it is heartbreaking how far from it reality is. Literally thousands, even children, in the streets homeless.

The reality is things here are very VERY desperate and for every helping hand there are plenty of people that will be more than glad to hurt you, sell you and your kids into human trafficing, pretend they are helping you and all they are doing is putting you in a pipeline that is difficult to impossible to make it through. One mistake you go right back to the bottom. There are years long waiting lists for every service and many of them have completely been taken away. What sounds like a lot of money in other countries will not even buy necessities here. Even low income housing has gotten where it takes a minimum of two to four full time incomes to keep it going. Living alone, especially for seniors, is rare and the ones that do have landlords or family that want to keep it that way because they want to divide up what is left and anyone seen as a servant is out of luck.

It is not that all the people in California, or even the USA, do not care, it is there are just too many, with too many serious problems and the money to help dried up a long time ago. If you don't have a birth certificate that says you were born here you are not going to get much help anywhere and you will not get into any programs. Believe me racism and religious persecution exists in the USA and in fact is alive and well weather anyone wants to tell you otherwise or not.

Contrary to what anyone sees of TV that makes it seem like all Americans live in the land of milk and honey in big mansions with fancy cars many are homeless, hungry, and have had little or no work that would afford them anything but survival for years. Survival that often means at least a generation or more of living in poverty and with crime that no joke is anything shy of a war zone. Those that come to the USA without money, without documentation, who don't have in demand skills they can not get certified locally become the unwashed, unpaid, untreated, un-feed, and exploited really fast with very little police protection. If it is not and armed robbery in progress it may be days before anyone shows up. The prisons are full so the criminal will not get much more tan three meals, and a cot for enough time to go buy to get them to court or plea bargain a lesser crime. AND BELIEVE ME if you are an immigrant you will be a victim of crime.

I pretty much guarantee you if anyone will pay your ticket to come here it is so you are their in residence slave to one or more people many who are abusive and mentally ill and there isn't going to be much if any effort to stop it.
