I don't understand the skin color fetish.Why would you want to be with someone because of their color, why not be with someone because you have something in common with them or you really care about each other and if they happen to have different color skin then so be it.

There is a lot of reasons for people to seek inter-racial dating.

Some people actually purposefully raise their children to accept people for many things that are not based in race, religion, gender blah blah. People being valued on their values. If I caught my children using racial slurs or discriminating at a very young age on up they knew there was consequences and we actively brought a variety of people into their life. The polar opposite to how things were where I grew up pretty much.

Sure it was hard and there have been costs. I have just about every race and creed in our family. Makes for some interesting holiday meals

Many people grow up in multi-race environments and learn skin color has little or nothing to do with what makes a person desireable. Not universally but many public childcare facilities and public schools are full integrated in the USA and it is only the small and or remote communities that are segregated. Military is fully integrated. All government jobs.

But to say people always pick a lover for good reasons is making the picture to simple.

Sometimes women date another race for a lot of reasons; discovery, novelty, fame, money, even spite, tearing them self down, mis-information.

What I would be willing to bet on is if someone picks a partner only for race it is a short term deal an the one being picked is not going to feel all that great about it in the long run.

And regardless of what people try to hope or tell otherwise there are big costs to inter-racial dating so if you are making that choice be ready to pay them.

People do things for all sorts of reasons , there is no way to narrow it down to a few simple reasons , However no matter what is done ,there will always be people who misunderstand , and try to pass that misunderstanding on to others , When someone finds love they often embrace it , when someone finds understanding honesty and integrity they embrace it , and from what i am reading , most people not in a interracial relationship have no clue that we live in a diverse world , lets embrace all it has to offer . Maybe we need to search inside , spend a little time healing and learning the importance of positive interaction , that might just make all of us attractive to everyone . and everyone attractive to us , follow your heart not the hype , you wont regret it ,,,Love the one you are with and when you get curious , remind yourself of how much you love your mate . we wondering about a lot of things , we ponder a lot of thoughts . that is how we grow .

I can't imagine why anyone would care why anyone dates whoever they date, or in some cases, don't date. I don't date anyone from West Virginia, why? Because I don't want to. Mystery solved.
