Would you trust a stranger/anonymous first contact who is wearing sunglasses in his main photo? Personally it seems somehow subterranean to me and I don;t respond.

For me, it would depend on other things...Like if he had additional pics minus the shades...The tone and style of his communication with me....Forum action, if any....You know, the stuff that leads up to the agreement to have "first contact" in the "first" place....Did I say that right?...haha

You are reading too much into it.Generally many people think that they look more cool in sunglasses and so it is but natural that they would like to post their coolest pic in their main photo nothing else.

Hmmmm Well personally a great pair of shades can be sexy as all get out because it directs you to the nose and the mouth because you are not distracted by the eyes if the shades fit the face right.

But generally in a lead shot I think it is rude because the person should be greeting/ engaging the reader and at least looking in the direction of the person viewing or his text in forum.

It is the little things that send the biggest subliminal messages.

When u put something between u and the other person(s) it's a defense mechanism. They are uncomfortable. They may be shy or unsure of themselves and how ppl will perceive them. Just get to know their personality and they will open up to u when they're ready.

Sunglasses pft! may as well put a bag over their heads or have them, in a descriptive manner, explain the colour of their eyes etc; to me as my eyes, mind and brain sprockets are not fit enough to behold them

Its a bit like people using someone else's pictures or avatars imo they are not even entitled to ask such a question, the brazen cheek, let alone know my and my kinds answer

Actually avatars are far worse - they project realism that does not exist in any reality and I would ban them all....save works of their own creation kittys etc
