Topic: Africa sees violent, deadly start to 2014 | |
---|---|
Yes, the topic of the OP is the violence taking place on the continent of Africa, and if everyone had stayed on topic, then this thread would not now contain so much bickering. Yet, someone just had to use the OP as an excuse to rant against Americans who prefer to call themselves "African-Americans". Such ranting reminds me of an act of racism. After all, Italian-Americans display their ancestral pride on Columbus Day, Irish-Americans display ancestral pride on St. Patrick's Day. German-Americans display their ancestral pride during Oktoberfest. Scottish-Americans display their ancestral pride on National Tartan Day (USA). So, black Americans have an equal right to display their ancestral pride by calling themselves "African-Americans". For the record, I use to be opposed to black Americans calling themselves "African-Americans", but I have changed my mind. Now, I see no harm in them doing so. Hey it was the OP's post and she wanted to go this direction which would be her right. Actually her only "right" in the whole post. So you used to be bigoted in opposing but now you are bigoted by endorsing. What next, will you too claim that Africa is in America? And the blacks have their day on Martin Luther King day where they get to celebrate being a citizen of equal stature. Now Dr. King was a Republican and devout supporter of equal rights according to this countries constitution. So why do so many want to tarnish what that great man died to advance? actually the op didn't take it here this post took it here "Are those the same Africans the American Negro takes their name, African American. They can proudly watch and sing the song, This is my Country. With a twist. " but THOSE posts always seem invisible,, until I respond to them,,, ![]() |

there is no CONTINENT called 'America' America, as it is being discussed in this thread and the dozens of others being participated in has been used in the CONTEXT of US citizens,,, there is a SOUTH'america', a NORTH America, and a region called Central America,, which by my count is three 'americas' the rest is a lame attempt at baiting and switching and distracting from the issue of how often people compare apples and oranges by comparing CONTINENTS to COUNTRIES,,, I belong here based upon SEVEN GENERATIONS Of ancestors born here and contributing to the SOCIETY,,,, perhaps, by birthright, even more so than many others who would desire I just 'know' my place,,,, But that is just your opinion and your opinion is without justification. http://geography.about.com/od/learnabouttheearth/qt/qzcontinents.htm There is no Central American continent except from wiki which is refuted by many sources including wiki itself. And you belong where, Africa. You are still not a citizen of these united States. my passport and birth certificate say different,,lol Im many things nationality is American, because I was born in a nation called the United States of American race is AFrican American, because ancestrally my roots were in Africa See you just admitted you weren't a citizen of these united States. And you have also committed fraud on your oath to this country by not disavowing allegiance to all other countries. |

They can proudly watch and sing the song, This is my Country. With a twist. " but THOSE posts always seem invisible,, until I respond to them,,, ![]() Au contraire, that was but the question, the post that took the turn was the OP: yes, just like germans living in America take their 'name' from others in history who were from that region too,, frustrated frustrated its a geographical distinction, and they all have their share of violence and injustice,,,,as well as their share of heroes and caring ,,, negro is the name Spaniards gave dark from Africa black is the name also not self determined but given by others African American is a name some blacks chose for themselves whatever the title, its understood what it refers to just the same personal preference for which label is indicative of very little So again you claim not to say what you said. |

"And no, negro in English does not mean the same as in Spanish. In English it denote an inferior class of people "
so someone here said negroes are inferior,,,,, "I say I is a Negro, I am. You cannot say I'm not. " so someone here implies that 'negroes' don't know how to speak properly "it was predominantly the Africans that were the easiest as they were a primitive people that had no method of retaliation." so someone here states that Africans were chosen for being 'primitive' (and not for having been stronger and healthier) "And if your ancestors hadn't been captured by other enemy tribes and sold to the slave traders, they would have been slaughtered in their villages in Africa" so someone here has a time machine that allows them to see how history would have unfolded if it HADNT Unfolded like it did,,, ", there was and is a different society and the blacks that were slaves more readily accepted their place and became equal. " so someone here thinks if blacks 'accepted their place' there would be no racial tension,,,, "you must truly be African living in the United States of America. You definitely don't belong to these united States. " so someone here thinks that my relating to my ancestry should void my citizenship,,, "And you belong where, Africa. You are still not a citizen of these united States" <see above> its all very telling ,, and disturbing that people who feel this way actually feel they are more enlightened or intelligent than others,,,, oh well ![]() |

I never took any oath, I was born here, that was all that was required I was made to state a 'pledge' but that didn't mention disavowing anything or anybody either,,, |
