Special Magic

You can't see it because it is invisible.
Hard to find and its very irresistible.
Softer than a butterfly and its delicate.
Its tapestry is woven and so intricate.
You know it when you have it inside.
Cherished you are aware of its pride.
More valuable than just gold or silver.
A spell binding that makes you shiver.

I just got a vivid visual there. love

No seriously, it’s not just because I’m a dirty old man. I actually bought some drums just the other day! I got a pair of congas and bongos (don’t laugh). I haven’t had time to beat on them yet, but I’m looking forward to it. This visual makes it even more inviting. After all, they are exotic drums. I like African music. Although I’m thinking about using timpani mallets instead of beating them by hand. The hand beating sounds more erotic, but I find the timpani mallets more attractive for some reason.

Whatever. bigsmile

Awesome about the drums, abra! Due to an injury to my right hand, I currently can't play any of my drums by hand right now, but I have an Ojibwa (Chippewa?) made frame drum and I just got a Darbuka (http://www.vintagedrum.com/item/Istanbul-Mehmet-Darbuka-Copper-Flower-Leaf-Design-15-X-7-75-UP-IS107)
for my birthday that I am in love with. I enjoy playing by hand but I love the flexibility of timpani mallets (I prefer softer ones). I also have some claves that are so loud and lovely rich sounding

Saturday Night Live indeed!

Does anyone know how to play a digeridoo? Lee? (sp?)drinker

Didgeridoo...I am hopeless at it, cyclical breathing...however I have some young people, that are phenomenal at it...we had an open mike one sunday, and this tiny little boy, all of six, climbed up on a stool with his 6 foot long dig and blew us all away...he catcalled, reverbed, cawed...he had the didg singing...and us adults in tears.

magical, and definately raised the energy of the plae.

Wench and I are on the hunt for a didgeridoo (I've no flippin' clue as to the appropriate spelling either)- I know the pretense of how to play them but have not exercised the method yet. There are some folks in our area who play with them-

Jess, cyclical breathing is nuts, and when I was "classically" trained how to do it I just about drown. My music instructors would have me fill my mouth full of water so I had chipmunk cheeks and then, while spitting the water out at a constant pressure, I had to take a deep breath through my nose as quickly as possible. I still can't do it very well.

I know one guy here that can play. he was up on an open stage with a few other musicians that I know and it was GREAT!drinker
Unfortunately the place burned down a year and a half ago and there's not many places that have an open stage every week here.

While were at it, drumming and dancing and making funny typed sounds, I propose a toast, a prayer, if you will-

To all of us, to everyone we've never met. Let our joy spread out and warm the hearts of the world drinker
