I think i am too sarcastic for the internet. There needs to be a sarcasm button or emoticon so people know you're trying (while possibly failing) to be funny, and not a heinous biatch. Because sometimes putting "lol" just doesn't cut it. thoughts???

I've had that experience. Some people just take things to seriously and or personally. I have pissed off a few people on twitter because they don't understand sarcasm.

Sometimes I add "/sarcasm" to stuff to get my point across. But usually only in blog posts. On message boards or forums, such as these, I figure if someone didn't get my sarcasm, **** it.

Sometimes my jokes get really dark though.Like I once had a roomie who was singing and not very good either. I was trying to sleep. So I finally told him if he didn't stop singing I would cut his tongue out with a butter knife. He eventually stopped and then started dancing. Then I threatened to hobble him. I asked him if he knew what that meant and he said no so I told him two methods I knew of from the book and movie Misery.

A couple days later he told me I gave him nightmares. hahaha

paint....while i absolutely agree, this may not be one of the sites where the "**** it" method works to your advantage very well.

iz, i have been on both sides of that experience....which is why we need the button. also, a "dislike" button would be useful, at least to me.

omg, thats awesome. my favorite weapon of figurative disfigurement was always the rusty plastic spoon. love misery.

I chose the butter knife because it wold take forever and I don't really want to put that much effort into that kind of thing. lol

Love the rusty plastic spoon idea. lol

I agree there have been times I posted and was being sarcastic and then someone jumped all over me for it. I think after awhile people get to know you and then realize your just kidding and if not oh well tough s***

I love sarcastic humor. If we point out every time we use it, I think some of the humor is lost.

I find it saves time to add the hahaha or lol thing anyway. If they still get mad then that's their problem.

For sure, jack. i think people will eventually get your sense of humor if theyre at least somewhat intelligent, and not a whiny diaper baby. besides, its no fun being nice all the time. just saying, tone of voice is hard to get across in black and white.

good points, guys. but there is also another element: youre male. its acceptable for you do the being-an-***-but-joking-but-not-really thing. if i do it, i just sound like a nag.....not that i care too much. i think mostly ppl find it intimidating that i can match wits in the first place. its whatevs. scr'uum!!!

That is another problem with telling jokes on the internet. It's hard to convey emotion in text when people can easily project their own emotion into it.

Wrong. Women invented and perfected sarcasm.

What if instead of a sarcasm button we had a button we could push that would slap someone's face to try to knock some sense into them. hahaha

we absolutely did, vanilla. in fact, to the point where most people, male, female .....even the individual USING the sarcasm.....cant tell if were being serious or not.

okay, ill revise, SOME, not most. like i said, the intelligence of the person definitely plays a factor in understanding the difference between condescending and sardonic.

lol, ingenious, Izzy!! think could we have a real-life one, too, without it being considered physical abuse? pleeeeease?

That was actually the idea. Just all the sudden a hand pops out of the person's computer and slaps them up side the head. I guess to keep it from being abusive it could be a foam rubber hand. But where would the fun in that be?
